The Golden Compass
« on: March 10, 2005, 11:19:30 PM »
I am planning on making a game based on this book that I just finished reading for the 4th time.  Its called "The Golden Compass" and has a storyline that I think I could make into a entertaining RPG.

A brief summary of the storyline can be found at http://www.hisdarkmaterials.org/article458.html

What do you think?  I would like people's opinions on this idea of turning a book into a game before I start.

Oh man, I loved that book, even after I read it for the 5th time

That'd be awesome to make a game based on "the Golden Compass"

I've never read the book, but it sounds pretty workable. Good luck with it! :)

I haven't read it, but it seems quite interesting. I'm not one who likes to read either, so a game would be cool. Good luck! :D

I've read that too, it's a good series.

So was The Subtle Knife, out of all three, the Golden Compass is probably the "least good" (not worst, because it was still a great book)

I started a game about it after I read the books, but I didn't get much farther than that.

Crazy?! I was crazy once... They locked me in a rubber room.  I didn't like it there.  I died there. They buried me in a hole in the ground.  The daisies grew down and down and tickled my nose.  I laughed so hard it drove me crazy. . . Crazy?! I was crazy once.... *Head a'splodes*

I have read the Subtle Knife, however, I have not yet read the Amber Spyglass.  The reason I decided to make a game based on the Golden Compass is because it starts out the series, and if I started on one of the other books, the people wouldnt have the backround they would need to completely understand the storyline.  Also, I personally found the Golden Compass better than the Subtle Knife.

I started working on Lyra's Battle Character Set.  How's it look?
