Starcraft - Stranded (INCOMPLETE!)
« on: December 27, 2005, 06:34:55 PM »
*Upon the barren face of the planet Gatronis IV, a Marine, a Ghost, and a Firebat struggle to survive against the immense Zerg Brood. Fight off countless numbers of Zerg scum, ranging from the tiny Zergling to the almighty Ultralisks. A great and expansive adventure awaits you!*

NOTE: This game is no where NEAR complete! I'm still looking for resources, here's the link to my request thread:

http://www.charas-project.net/forum/showthread.php?threadid=15117&forumid=5&catid=4

Tell me what you think of the storyline so far! The game'll be done within a couple months, but before I even start, I NEED THOSE RESOURCES! Expect a great game to come out sometime in 2006!

Not to be mean, but a good game takes at least a year or at the VERY least 6 months to make. Also, you need to explain the story further. A few sentences won't do it. For example: How did they get there? and why are they there?

Also, while I generally don't care (as long as they're good) most people on this forum HATE fangames. If you have a good story, try to not make it a fangame (unless you're paying homage to SC).

The whole "how they got there" is left to be found during the game. The game ain't gonna be that long, so I'd say two or three months for completion. Don't worry, you're not being mean, I take your advice as constructive criticism. Thanks for the advice!

Generally a RPG based on a strategy war game isn't the bestest idea.

If you're really thinking about doing this and putting effort into it, I'd say make an ABS (Active Battle System). You can find tutorials or find someone nice enoguh to make one for you. The DBS (Default Battle System) won't fit well into this game. Although they're hard to make, they're worth it.

I'm not too thrilled with this idea, it doesn't seem you've put too much thought into it, but go ahead and do what you want (Even if it is a fan game, there's nothing wrong with fan games.) Honestly guys, get over it Fan Games aren't "Teh DeViL!!!33!11!666". Maybe you'll surprise us.

Drenrin, I was thinking that over too, and I'm gonna try that out. I've tried an ABS before, they're hell to do, but the worst part is, it'll limit it to 1 character... Unless I can get a system where you switch characters... Yeah, I'm gonna take your advice, man. Thanks.

Update : The game just plain ain't working. Chances are, I'm going to cancel it. Seems that a Starcraft game in RPG Maker would seem a little off, like Darkfox said. Once again, chances are, this game will be canceled.

OMG TEH ANGRYS ARE ERUPTING IN MES!

Well, I've got 7 dif characters in my game, only 2 of them are main characters that you can play the story through, the rest are mini game characters (aka tactic battle system) .... Anyways, really all you have to do is keep the same programming, and just switch a few things around, like damage, arrow firing speed, max magic, magic speed, etc etc, and you've got a totally new character. You've just got to make sure to balance it, like if you take away from arrow fireing speed, add some arrow damage or add something to magic firing speed and etc.

I understand what you're saying, Meiscool, and I like that. Thanks for the advice. (UPDATE) The game is hereby canceled. Sorry!

RPGMAKER2K3+Starcraft= [STRIKE]crap[/STRIKE] failure
add meiscool the the equation, and it would still be crap, but might be possible to code.
