A speech from the ex-actress and parliamentarian (or a similar word in english this no official translation so THERE) Myrian Rios in the Legislative Assmbly of Rio de Janeiro has caused a polêmic. In vídeo, posted on YouTube in the last friday (24), Myrian announces that she wants the right to fire a lesbian babysitter, because she could try and abuse her daughters.

"Lets say I have two girls at home and hire a babysitter who admits that her sexual orientation is being lesbian. If my sexual orientation is contrary to hers and I want to fire her, I can't. The right that the babysitter has to want being lesbian is the same I have of not wanting her in my house. I'll have to keep the babysitter at home and God knows, even, if she won't commit pedofily against them", she said.

 The actress continues her examples. "If I hire an homossexual driver, and he tries, in a way or another, to bother my son, I may not fire him. I want a law to fire him, yes, so I can show my sexual orientation is another", she affirmed.

  Catholic, Myrian Rios positions herself against the Proposte de Emenda à Constituição in which sexual orientation should be included in rio de Janeiro's constitution, it's discrimination being punishable in the state. See the video bla bla.


In a note published at the beggining of thie monday's night, Myrian Rios said to have been misinterpreted and aked to be forgiven for her speech. "I repudiate pedophiles and never had the intention to compare this criminal to homossexualism. If people understood it that way, I apologize", she said.



Now, why is this stupid?

1 - The law says you have to respect homossexuals, not that you may not fire child molesters who molested your son.

2 - She did imply all homossexuals were pedophiles so i'm not even sure what she meant with the apology. No, lady, saying "what I said is not what I meant to say" doesn't make your previous statement "misinterpreted".

3 - Everyone at the comments section of that page is praising her and quoting the bible. EVERYONE.

Um yeah, ignorant people are abound in every country. Take the Tea Party's candidate for president, Michele Bachman. She has made similarly ignorant comment about homosexuals, as well as other as other subjects. You just can't ration with some people.

I'm a Christian.
Do I have problems with homosexuals? No.
Do I think they should be allowed to marry? YES. As a matter of fact, I find it rather unconstitutional that they can't here in the U.S., given that everybody supposedly has the right to pursue what makes them happy.

Yeah this sounds wrong. If we follow this logic only strait women can take care of girls and only straight guys can take care of boys. Sucks if you have two children, one boy and a girl.

I mean, having a paedophile admitting being homosexual would be kinda stupid. I kinda expect one of those to act like they totally like grown ups of the opposite gender if they actually like kids of the same gender.
