RPG Maker MV 75% off in Humble Bundle store (sale lasts 9 more days)

This is the best price I've seen, I think ($80 software for $20), and 5% of the purchase goes to a charity of your choice (with another 5% to either charity or your Humble Bundle wallet for future game purchases).  Great time to pick it up!

I actually saw it on facebook via the RPG Maker page, and figured it could be useful for someone here!

I went ahead and picked it up.  So now, I think, I own all the RPG Maker series, except VX (which I understand to have been supplanted by VX Ace).

Now to figure out what to do with them....

I'm still not sure if I'm ever going to use them; my days of noodling around with RPG Maker projects are long over.  Which isn't to say that I'm not interested in making games, but I've put some time into learning Unreal Engine, paused that to go create my own assets in Blender, then got distracted from that and, more recently, in between writing Person of Interest fanfics and maintaining a mostly-Minecraft-centric YouTube channel, started learning Inform 7 (a text-game engine).

Sounds like you've been really busy lately.

I'm glad that there are more software today that lets you make games, back when I started this it was pretty much rpgmaker and gamemaker, and some other really non-newbie friendly things.

Sorry for the late reply, but you're right about "busy."

I still remember trying to get into RPG Toolkit, and being stymied by the lack of anything like user-friendly or intuitive design.  (At least, my brain remembers it as RPG Toolkit; I might be confusing it with a different utility.)

Being able to create 3d objects fairly easily, and incorporate them into a game setting that already has physics worked out and just needs a bit of tweaking... we are a few generations of coders past the "have to invent all these pieces from scratch and make them work together" age, and it is becoming glorious.  And also allowing a ton of people to put horribly unfinished game designs up for sale, which I have very mixed feelings about, but I guess that comes with the territory ^_^

Hope you'll consider looking at my A Fugitive in Stardew Valley series -- between that and Arkylie's Kitchen (where I go over some Minecraft recipes for the HarvestCraft mod), I've actually got some decent series content up on my channel (as compared to a kazillion tiny Minecraft clips and a few aborted attempts at Super Hostile co-op series... aborted because my nephews are too young to really commit to a full playthrough).

(Incidentally, while Kilyle has been my online identity since I first got on the internet, I have changed it to Arkylie Killingstad for most of my public creative efforts, on account of needing to have a name I created myself, instead of one I cribbed from my favorite Star Trek novel.  But it's still the case that almost anywhere you see a Kilyle online, that's me.)
