Final Fantasy VII: The Turks
« on: January 15, 2005, 08:08:27 PM »
okay, i'm currently in the VERY early developments of my first ever game usin rpgm2000.

Game info:
Title: Final Fantasy VII: The Turks
Set: The game begins after President Shinra has just been killed by Sephiroth in ff7, instead of following cloud and his group through the story, we follow the otherside, the turks.
Playable Characters: Turks - Reno
                                           - Rude
                                           - Elena
                                           - Tseng
                                Shinra - Rufus
you will also be able to fight with some of clouds group when you reach wutai and u join forces to find yuffie and elena. Cloud's Group being, Cloud, Aeris, Tifa, Cid and Vincent.

Its exactly the same storyline as ff7, but it will follow the fortunes of the turks. Obviously i will be adding other bits to thestory line so it isn't just the ff7 storyline.

I have decided to this because i found making an original rpg from scatch was to hard for a beginner like me and i needed a base for my storyline, thats when i came up with this.

be as honest as you like with my plans, whether you think its a good idea or a stupid one, and if anyone would like to help me with this game, cause i'm probably gonna need a lot of help, just look on my profile and e-mail me.

No offense, but a lot of people are going to think its a stupid project because it is a fan game. It's just, I don't think too many people will try to help you. But, if you need anything, just ask me, and I'll do my best to try to help.

While it is a good idea,  most people disapprove of fan games (like Wildguy said), myself included.
However, I don't see a lot of fan games that tell a story from another person's viewpoint. I think you could get away with this one, but you'll have to make the story convincing. For example, you could tell how each of the Turks joined the Turks (or is it in the game? I don't remember).
I would also suggest changing the title to "The Turks' Story" or "Behind FF7: The Turks". These are slightly more original than "FF7: The Turks".

Oh, and for the rest of you, don't post something like "Fangames suck, don't do it".

Yes, just like he said.

I also agree with Phoenix about changing the name, people are going to look at the title at rate it in their mind then and there. You gotta pull them forward by the title, that's how all the big game companies think.

Another ff7 fangame, but alittle different from the other ones though.
This time it's about the Turks, I see.
It's a good idea but it's still ff7.
I won't say it's gonna suck but highly doubt I that it's going to be sweat.
You know ff7's storyline is Squaresoft's, now Squareenix.
And only them could do it the right way, so I suggest you do your own game.
But I might still play this one anyway, it sounds a little more special than the others.

I'm in the middle when it comes to fangames. But I think this one is a good idea. If you know the entire story behind ff7, you could make it the way it's suppose to be. If you don't know muhc about the story, and only that the Turks are bad ***, then you shouldn't try it.

Either way, I wish you luck.

BTW: Does this mean you'll include thep art where they get caught at that destroyed mako plant talking about whether they aeris or tifa better? lol, that part was classical! :)

If you want to make a descent game i recommend you use rm2k3, it automatically comes with the side battle system and will save alot of time.

Hey sounds like a good game, and I don't usually like fangames either, but I could get used to this one. And it's not that hard to find RM2k3 on the web anymore.

FFVII is over-used.
I'm sick of seeing people use FFVII as their subjects instead of real FFs.

Just ignore the unconstructive comments.  Go with your gut on this.  Since the turks don't have the same story element that psycho Cloud and his wonderful mind of fake memories had you'll have to get a story that REALLY hooks people.  Definetly throw in Vincent and Lucrecia.  You'll have to show how Hojo makes it with Lucrecia (EEW) and Vincent tries to ef Hojo up but gets tinkered with and seals himself away.  Try elaborating on each person's story but try and base it around one central key character like square did with cloud.  Vincent is the obviously logical choice because there's more base story there but you can think of another too I'm sure.

oh and if you need any help with this game feel free to ask me.  don't forget:

Vincent - Guns
Rufus - Longer-Barreled Guns
Reno- Cattle Prod
Rude- Fists
Elena- um...Magic?
