« on: August 26, 2005, 01:25:17 PM »
Since no one seems to have noticed the demo in my original game thread, here is the demo to "Two Worlds."

An interesting demo. The first village is average unless it is considered a 'poor' village...in that case it's a great village.

The characters, appearance-wise, aren't bad. I personally like Aristad even tho he falls in the blondy category. Can't say about their personality, it's too early.

The first dungeon is pretty much straight forward, probably on purpose since its the first of many. The boss is whimpy if you have enough logic to cast the appropriate spell.

The very first scene is rather confusing since we have no idea when/where it happens. Darna is cool but he looks...generated.

The battle song is good but gets boring in the ''long'' run.

Overall, it's a nice demo. Looking forward to the next one.

The next demo will contain a scene that explains some of the events in the intro.

But overall, thanks for the review.

Alright, I finished the demo, so heres my review :)

Intro: The intro is the first thing someone sees in your game, and thats where the first impressions are, I thought yours was a little boring. It was interesting, but it was mostly that one guy talking to himself, and since you don't really know about what, it was kinda dull. I suggest when he looks throught the telescope, you show a star panorama, and scroll it slightly, it should help :)

Story and gameflow: Since this was a pretty short demo, I didn't see much of either, but so far they look good. Story is interesting, you know something is going on, but you don't know what, so thats good. Gameflow is also good, you have it set at a good pace, you have to set a decent amount of time in the town, and the dungeon is a good legnth.

Mapping: Your mapping could use a bit of work. In the intro maps I could walk over the black parts that I'm guessing were the back and side walls, I could walk over the chairs, there were various other spots where I found errors like this as well.

As for the actual mapping, I found your house and town maps to be a bit emtpy, trees, grass, plants, rocks, or anything you can think of just to fill them up a bit more. The dungeon had a good layout, but it was too blocky, most of your rooms/caverns/areas were square, try to make it more natural looking and round or smooth it out a bit more.

Conclusion: It needs a lot of work in mapping, but your game shows some promise :)

essentially, my review would be the same as DBs...
but I have 2 other things that I dislike:

1: the music wasnt really my thing...but thats opinion.(I found the town theme particularly annoying, and the battle theme was a little bland...)

and

2: Rudra chars don't mix with RTP styled.

It sounds like you have a differant version of the rtp than Zidane. Just copy those files into the game folder and rename them if necisary. I didn't see too much rtp, so it shouldn't be too much work.
