FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP ME
« on: April 15, 2006, 01:10:55 PM »
So I was playing Diablo II, my comp froze completely, when I rebooted it says, word for word

"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM.
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair."

So I assume that would be the Windows XP: Home Edition disk I have, right?

Well, after putting that in, rebooting, getting up to the set up, I'm given the choice to
    Install Windows
    Repair stuff
or
    Quit

So anyway, repair takes me to a DOSlike command prompt where I select my installation (I only have one) which leaves me at good old dependable C:WINDOWS>_

So my question to you, my beloved friends (and/or foes), is how do I fixed computer?

And reformatting is not an option. I have absolutely everything on there, Charas, DA, Flash, oh sweet God my Flash, gigs upon gigs of stuff from throughout the years.

Help me. ;_;

Hold yer balls man!! Pull yerself together aye?

Listen, if you´re really confused about this, don´t try anything. Get a tech to do it for you in the name of security!

Wait for Charas dweller's opinions and instructions. If you do not trust them still, do as I said.

It may be a virus or HD cluster damage.

EDIT: I logged on MSN to talk to you about this...duh!

formatting pc drivers
« Reply #5 on: April 15, 2006, 01:43:41 PM »
here,s what you can do can you get in to you driver?
if so move all you work and the 2nd driver

if you move all you need of the 1st driver
to the 2nd driver

you got two driver in all pc
ok the 2nd driver put all what you need on to it

2nd driver is the back up driver
that your do not use a lot

all you do is this get the  2nd driver out of you pc
so you do not  format it

than go in two the 1st driver  then reformat it

than move all the good things on to this
from the 2nd driver and put back on your 1st driver

or if you got a  cd riper and it working put all you need on
to a cd like your music games and so on

one way to do this

or you have to do a full reformat not so good
and yes you lose the lot sorry to say

hope this help you
if not give me a day
i ask my bro as he fixed my pc for me
as thats his job he worked on pc's for 10 years know

Would it still be possible to copy the existing HD?  I mean like at a computer place...  I had to have that done a cuple of years ago, it cost me $50...  but the stuff on my HD is priceless.

;)
mm

Edit:  Just talked to evil troll techie on MSN

ETT says:
Well, he's got two options.
ETT says:
The safest choice is to buy another harddrive, install windows on it, and make his current harddrive the D: drive. He should then be able to recover any files on it without problem.
ETT says:
The riskier option is to try to recover the disk using checkdisk and stuff. I'd have to look up the details.
ETT says:
Actually, there is also a third option...
ETT says:
Reinstall windows. It won't delete any of your data - it just won't be linked to your menus and stuff anymore.
ETT says:
Just don't choose the 'format' options if it asks
missmanners   says:
LOL....
missmanners   says:
can I copy paste this?
missmanners   says:

missmanners   says:
I'll change your name to Evil Troll Techie
ETTl says:
But, if you DO choose the format option by accident, Nucleus Kernal for FAT and NTSF. It can recover an formated harddirve.
ETT says:
But you'll have to buy it - it's not free.
