You know the "search" device?
« on: September 29, 2006, 12:08:26 AM »
I use it almost everyday, and aways when I want to find an old post, but every time I have to scrol down a list of names, most of which consist in variations of "Sephiroth", but that's not the case, is it? I just find annoyin to do that. Isn't there a way to search for posts authors without having to scroll down all that? Like, just typing the name of the author or whatever?

Another thing I noticed is that we have "25141 registered members"...... where are they? Most profiles doesn't have a single post!
So, what I'm going to suggest, how about setting it up for a profile with no posts at all to be automatically deleted after, lets say, 4 months of inactivity? Memebers who do have posts, but doesn't come back that often (Red, Weregnome..... Xen?) would still maintain their profiles untouched, as they have posts.

 You know, just a cleanup?

 Just a idea.

Grandy, if you set the qualifications to only "Posts made by user" and select it, you only get their posts...

As for deletion, don't think we need to do that. Does it really affect anything in the long run?

Just click on the dropdown list and start typing, it should automatically scroll to the name.

In Firefox, at least. Not sure if it does that in IE.

Because of the way the site's set up, deleting accounts without any posts could cause problems in other places - for example, all of the people who've submitted stuff to the generators or CR but haven't posted in the forums would be deleted, and their resources would either be deleted or uncredited. And I would think that pruning users that have no submitted resources or forum posts would be more work than necessary.

What would cleaning the forum of inactive users to to benefit anyway? It's not as if having too many members is harmful.

Must have something to do with that Charas racism where anyone who isn't a devoted poster who's contributed some resources or done a request is walking filth.

Not really, I just though it could be occuping too much space.

I mean, there's a limit to how much things we can put at Charas, right?
