Generator
www.seventhsanctum.com
This will be the first of many threads (Or'll I'll update this one) to be focusing on Generators. I'm putting them here because this seems like the place where people would go for help on stuff like creating characters, setting, etc.
Seventh Sanctum is probably the best Generator website out there, it has various subjects each with more than a dozen generators. I'll showcase just a few. Additionally, Seventh Sanctum also links to various other sites like it, and from each of their generators, you'll also get a list of generators similar to THAT generator. Wow, they've basically ended my job, huh?
Quick Name Generator
For when you need something simple, the names you'll find here are all based off of the American census. Here are a few for boys and girls, which are your only two options.
Edith Hopkins
Rosanne Pauline Holman
Shanna Coleman
Dion Glenn
Jayson Heath
Lupe Lenard Vazquez
Vampire Name Generator
Produces interesting names on the most recent pop culture fad. You can select Modern or Fantasy type names, as well as select gender or if you want a full name, first name, or just a last name. Here are some now.
Aubrey Maganti
Isaiah Savage
Hiricaeleb Terrorbeast
Salez Farblade
Quick Character Generator
Seventh Sanctum's generators don't just produce lists of names, but also detailed character, setting, or object biographies. Here are a few examples from the Quick character Generator.
The stupid explorer.
The acrobatic hermit searching for employment.
The athletic, cooperative laborer who is estranged from family members.
Adventure Sights
Perfect for RPGs, these are names for areas where characters can travel to find treasure, revenge, or whatever.
Grand Spire of Necromantic War
Insane Gauntlet of Terrible Devils
Shrine of the Pharoah
Dimension of Memories
Starship of Ice
Starship of Venom
Bookspinder
One of the most complex generators I've seen on Seventh Sanctum. This generator creates book titles to fill your fictitious shelves. The complexity comes from the choices you have when using the generator. You can only generate up to 10 books at a time, but by checking a certain box, you can generate the quality of the books, as well as add the probability of finding 'extras' in the book. An example follows.
(Normal Book Titles)
The Encyclopedia of Innovative Summoning
The Territory's Ideological Crimes
The Chronicles of the Provinces
(Titles and Quality)
A Cross-Examination of the Halbierd and Longbow
* This book is quite clear. It doesnt take much effort to determine that it has no useful information. At least the contents contain some original thought.
The Peacetime Application of Illusions
* This book is hard to understand due to a meandering writing style. With effort, one will be able to understand the book, and will find it is reasonably useful. Perusing the book reveals that the contents have a few areas of deep insight.
(Titles, Quality, and Extra)
Differences in the Excretory System of the Troll and the Cyclops
* This book is very easy to understand mostly due to wonderful organization. The book's well-done nature allows one to easily find that it has no useful information. One may be deterred from reading it, but it is evident that the ideas within make you see things differently.
* Examining the book, one will find: A written dedication in the beginning in a recognizable, but foreign language.
Current Studies of The Child-Rearing Habits of Wyverns
* This book is clear thanks to the good diagrams. A small study will show it is extremely informative. Despite its good traits, the contents seem to have been stolen from another work.
* Examining the book, one will find: Folded-down pages marking pages that seem to have no similar or related information. Written notes commenting critically on various parts of the book. A list of supplies can be found secreted in the binding.
Okay, I do admit that Seventh Sanctum might not be helpful at times, but it tries and there are always new generators being released and you never know what inspiration or creativity it can create.
Aside from the generators, Seventh Sanctum is growing recent popularity because of its Contests, witch pit artists against each other to create characters, items, or objects based on the results of their generators, always centered around a very unusual and interesting theme.
Well there you have my review of Seventh Sanctum. any reviews I do on other sites I find will also include a more in depth review of a random generator from Seventh Sanctum. until then, have fun.

It sounds okay if you need help making your first game, but Its better to make your own story. EDIT: though sometimes coming up with names is a pain in the but.

I either use a generator for my unimportant characters or the names of characters from other games/movies as jokes.
Examples: Johnny Sasaki (The unlucky guard, MGS)
Clayton Willard (XIII)
Curly Brace (PLAY CAVE STORY)
Richard Reiben (B.A.R. gunner from Saving Private Ryan)
Stan Grossman (Fargo)
Larry Sellers (Big Lebowski)

Plus, i think i did this thread a long time ago without all the fluff. However apparently this'll be Uorri's lil' gimmick here on Charas.
You ever try making your own, Uo?
