Messed-up text?
« on: October 18, 2009, 07:49:37 AM »
For about a month and a half now, I have been working on my RPG titled "Timeless", and it's all been going pretty smoothly, save one thing.  That thing is the text seems a little messed up. Sure, it's still readable, but sometimes the second letter in a sentence mixes in with the first one (as you'll see in the example screen shot in the link below). I've tried changing around the system looks and everything, but though the system looks change, the text does not. I'd really like to know how I can fix this. Please keep in mind I am using RPG Maker 2000.

To any who can help me on this, I offer you my sincere thanks in advance.

Oh, that.

Dunno how to fix it. I used to put a space between the letters.

It looked less silly, but not entirelly.

Its very easy to fix lol. Go into you're rm2k3 directory in your program files. (probably called rpg2003). In that folder there is a font folder, open that and copy all of the files. Then go to you're control panel, and navigate to fonts. It should open up kind of like a folder and have all of your computers fonts in this folder. Simply paste the fonts from your rpg maker 2003 folder into this font folder. Once thats done open rpg maker, and everything should work just fine.

Its been a while since I did this, and I think some error messages will pop up when you try and paste the fonts in the font folder, just ignore them, press yes if it asks you if you want to copy over an existing file, if it says something like the file is not a valid font, press okay or skip. All of that is normal.

I hope that helps :)

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN

It would help, except that I am using RPG Maker 2000, not 2003, and thus said Font folder doesn't exist...

Oic, well they use the same fonts, so see if you can get the rm2k3 files and use those fonts, if not, I'll upload the fonts somewhere and post the link here. Put those fonts in the font folder, and it should work with rm2k like it does with rm2k3.

:) I'm glad it worked. The only reason I know this process so well is I have to set up rm2k/3 on one of my computers every 6 months or so (cuz they keep crashing and stuff) and I have to do that every time to fix the font lol.

Congratulations, I remember this being part of a readme deal by the translator sometime ago.
