Death of Teachers
« on: April 09, 2010, 02:23:38 AM »
So, a really good history that also worked with the drama department at my school died of cancer late yesterday.  One of my favorites.  This is the second teacher in three years to die during the school year.  The first one was a math teacher in his first full (or would have been) year of teaching and was hit by a drunk driver on his way to school.

Has this happened recently to anyone?

Once, a good instructor of mine in an online class died in the hospital a while back. I never met him much in person but he was a nice enough guy. I was actually sad that he died because I had passed his class not long before his death.

Yes, the Band teacher at school crashed his motorcycle earlier this year.
Hit the back of a semi while speeding like all hell, and died almost instantly.

I didn't know him, so I didn't feel very sad, but one of my good friends had known him for the entirety of High School.

AFL, there were a few teachers I've had who have passed on...I'm really sorry for your loss.

Have you ever heard "In Rememberance" by Eleanor Daley? It uses the same text, but is acapella. The music is incredibly moving and illustrative... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJS9h09yGEY

You look like my grandmother.
edit: when she was young. You don't look like you're 80.

No, but in elementary school we had a crossing guard who died, he was like 90 years old though. He was awesome.

Nah, I mean not that wish death upon people I don't, but I think if that would've happened to me during high school or college, I would secret be like "yay..." but then I would've felt guilty.

Thanks Zerlina.

Normally I wouldn't be so affected by it, but it was someone who was really involved with our theater program and helped make it grow to one of the best in the area.

My absolute dick of a health teacher died of *** cancer two years after I passed his class in high school. He was a creepy ****er that would rape the tennis girls he coached if he wasn't a damned snorlax. Either way, he died of *** cancer after like a year of fighting it.

And nothing of value was lost.

None of the teachers I knew died. But I heard of a few in my university who did. One was struck by cancer and the other suicided, ironically, at the same spot a friend of mine had suicided a year ago, from the top of our shopping mall.

I went to check it, and they still haven't put anything to prevent further attempts too.

This topic reminds me of the kids that made a Death Note with their teacher's name on it.

Edit: Especially after the cardiac arrest thing.
