Dragon World Awakenings
« on: December 15, 2004, 10:58:43 PM »
Well for a while now I've been working on my mini-project called Dragon World, since I've been having so much fun working on it, I've decided to make a sequal for it (considering I should be done with the first one in roughly 2-4 weeks). Unlike the first game, this one will be a major project I'm working one. What that means is that I'm going to spend time to make sure every detail of the game is perfect.  It also means that this will be a full legnth game instead of only being a few hours long.

Its been roughly two years since the incident that concluded the first game

Characters:

DragonBlaze (I'll just say DB for short): Although he goes by his true name now, most people still know call him DragonBlaze. He has taken leadership of the dragon clan since the old head dragon had passed away (not saying how since it would be a spoiler for the first game). However he is struggling with the responcibilities of being a leader, especially since most of the dragons still hate humans which DB vowed to protect.

Kyruto: A human thats been DBs old friend from long before the first game even started. He was the lone survivor of the incident that seven years before the start of the first game, and has been looking out for DB ever since.

Keckshio: One of the old Dragon Sword Masters that followed Zersevick, like DB, he too felt guilt and stood up for what he thought was right. Now he fights along side him once again to bring peace to the land.

Ashvarta: A dragon who long ago she put herself to sleep to save a town from famine (more may be released on how and why later). The people however betrayed her and never woke her back up when the famine was over. Even in her sleep she became angry and was able to create an apperition of herself that could roam the world. After venturing to the spot where she had been put too sleep, she found that her very body had been sold off to a wizard for unknown reasons. Her sorrow and anger have since overcome her.

Sal’ahhadra: A carefree dragon who knows nothing of  society. She dose not know any spoken languages, her only skill is hunting in the open praries hundreds of miles away from any human. But when trouble brews she is forced to leave her peaceful life and take up an unforgettable adventure. She holds secrets as old as time, and harbors am unknown power.

Story:

Two years since the incident which ended the first game have passed. A peace long forgotten had returned to the land, but such things where not meant to last. After venturing to the "holy place" to look upon the grave of Zersevick, DB found that the dark dragons soulblade which had been placed there as well was gone. Fearing the worst he runs off to Megatown fearing the worst.  When he arives in the town, there is no imidiate danger, but there are rumors of a shadow lurking in the darkness . Its not long before DB realizes what must be done…

Meanwhile, far off on another continent, Sal’ahhadra is chasing after a deer like creature, when all of a sudden the ground shakes and the sky darkens. In the following days food becomes scarce and she is forced to move out of her home.

Join DragonBlaze, Sal’ahhadra, and the rest of the characters in an adventure that may change the very way the world is looked upon. Before he fought for a people, now he fights for the world…

Features:

Monster Training system: One of your characters is a monster trainer, with him in your party you can ally with various monsters. Allying with different creatures will cause different things to happen. Some monsters will give you items, some will teach you skills, and some will actually join your party. For monsters that join your party, your monster trainer will be able to teach it new abilities and train it in many aspects. While the monster is fighting, the monster trainer or the whole party may sit back (depending on the monster size), when the monster is withdrawn or defeated, the monster trainer or the whole party will come back to the battle. Most of the training for monsters is done in the monster arena, although fighting with them will get them experience, it will be used for events in the monster arena, and won’t cause the monster to level up.

Changeable cloths: for all the non-dragon characters you will be able to change there cloths whenever you want. Each character starts out with two outfits, more can be obtained by various methods. However the different outfits will not effect the character in any way except for his/her appearance. The other way I may do this is by having their appearance change when different types of armor are equipped.

If made with rmxp, all gfx will be custom made: I haven’t decided if I’m going to make it with rmxp or not, if I do it will be with the legal version though. If this is the case, all gfx (characters, tiles, and screens) will be custom made by me. Character sizes will be twice the size of normal rtp characters which in my opinion makes the game look better. This will only be if I do make it with rmxp though…

War type mini-games, About half way through the game you will be able to fight skirmishes through a TBS type system. You’ll assign what troops are in what unites, then you’ll be able to position your units through out the battle field and give them commands. It will be sort of like a battle system from ogre battle. Different troops you gain will be able to aid your units in different ways. You’ll start out with three basic classes (fighter, black mage, and white mage) and through doing various missions, you’ll get more advanced troops such as knight, hunter, alchamist, samuari and various types of monsters.

Multiple characters: Nothing special here, I just listed this because in the first game you only play with one character. In this one however you’ll have around 6 characters (plus monsters from the monster trainer).

I’m sorry I couldn’t give our much info in certain areas, but if I did it would be a spoiler for the first game, and possibly this one. If has any questions related to something I did not fully clarify, I’ll be happy to answer, as long as you don’t care about knowing a few of the spoilers :)

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN

nice! I remember reading about your other games like Silver fire I and II. This sounds like it'll be great, can't wait for some screen shots and updates.

Thanks for the comments, It will probably be a few days before I get any screenshots up. I have to finish Sal'ahhadra's charset and a tile set before I can make any. Since Sal is about twice the size of a human sprite (and my human sprites are twice the size of rtp character sprites) its taking a long time. Its also hard because she walks on four legs, and I'm not used to making character sets like that  _sweat_

Actually heres the title screen  :D I'm gonna redo the black light cuz right now I think it dosn't look to good...
