Whenever I battle I win, but the monster is still there! How do I make it so he goes away after I beat him?

Actually, you'll need to use switches.

After all of your stuff is done, create a new command (click on the <> thing). On the first page, there should be an option called Switch Operations/Change Switch/Something with "Switch" or "Trigger" in it. Click it. A new box should open up. Click the button with the "...", and choose and/or name your switch. Click OK, then click OK again.

Now, click the "New Page" option near the top of the screen. On this new page, on the left side, there should be a bunch of checkboxes. Click the first one, and select the name of the switch you created.
