Other Makers
« on: May 23, 2005, 01:20:17 PM »
I'm just wondering if anybody else uses other makers for games like game maker, SRPG95, RM95,97,98, RPG Toolkit, Sphere, anything else besiedes RM2000 and 20003? I use SRPG95, RM95,
RPG Toolkit (used to), game maker, Network RPG Maker, Shooter Maker 95 and i used "sphere" once, but for about 5 mins then I realized i was wasting my time. And if you've ever used one to make a game, could you show it? My first RPG was made with the now obsolete RM95, heck, I still use it! Here's a little glimse of the first RPG Maker

Edit-This is the adress for RPG Toolkit, it's legal so don't worry.

I used to use RPG Maker for Playstation. But it's not very good... 500 switches, no variables, one movement speed, and limited amount of data so you can't make big games (unless you have several memory cards).

And it takes up a LOT of memory card space. One small game can take up half a memory card and if you have a large game, it can fill up two or three memory cards. Drawing a monster graphic can take up one memory card slot by itself (two if it's size is set to Extra Large), and each custom sprite is a memory card slot.

There was this free RPG Maker clone, but it seems that I have lost the link.

Also, I mostly use GameMaker now.

I once used RPG Maker 98 but I honestly can't remember anything about that maker, I have GameMaker I'm just to lazy to learn. Has anybody ever tried RPG Toolkit? It's an open source RPG Maker that creates RPGs that can rival or beat RPG maker, you just have to learn it's programming language.

About Gamemaker, does anybody have the registered version, if so what's the difference? I've really only created a couple of decent games with GameMaker, a shooter and a short maze game. If anybody uses RPG Toolkit I'd appreaciate a good tut on how to code. And FFL, RPGMaker on Playstation? That sounds like a waste of time, I mean how would you type? And is it like fightermaker, that took one whole memory card just to save one fighter!

I don't have the Registered version of Gamemaker5 but with the registered version you can:

- The registration screen will disappear and no logo is shown when any game loads.
- Two additional sets of actions
- The possibility to create games that can be played over a network.
- The possibility to extend the functionality using DLLs.
- A built-in particle system to create fireworks, flames, explosions, etc.
- The possibility to create and modify resources during the game.
- Additional drawing functions.
- A collection of functions to create and use data structures.

If you probibly noticed I copy and pasted the extra functions from the Registration Pannel.

Bread is good..lol. Okay the registered version sounds like something I would never use. Has anyone ever heard of Shooter Maker 95? I've used it a little bit. It's used to make shooter games like R-type or aero fighters. It also seems like this is becoming a game maker thread instead of other un-or little-heard of game makers.

I dabble in GameMaker, but RPG Maker is my true love. I also tried to mess with 3d gamestudio, but that's a lot of work, even compaired to RM2K3 scripting.

have you ever used one of the older RPG Makers? Mostly I use 2000\3 or 95. Personaly I think RM95 is great for n00b game makers because it requires abosolutely no knowledge of games, and the RTP can be edited easily. But if I had to choose it'd be XP or 2003 for a real game.

Version 6 also has 3D functions when registered.

Oh, and when you register, you not only support the creator, but also make sure the developement doesn't stagnate.

I personaly think that RPG Maker on a playstation instead of a  computer could get really annoying, how would you put in the text? And the fact that the RTP is all you get could be annoying. And there is a 3D RPG Maker for computer, I think someone was translating it.
