It's true, but graphics is just ONE element of the many others.

Since when will your hero be a dot? Find one on the net! There are hundreds of decent charsets out there!

I've finished two decent games, both mainly using rtp, and one crappy one, completely using rtp. GO RTP!!!

well....

MY POINT is that everyone gets soooo distracted.
very very few games EVER get finished.

I honestly wish i could find a way to make it so several different people could do things for a game at once.

You can import maps right? (never tried too so i dunno)
if so, then one preson could do one portiend of the game and another do another and so on and so forth.

Honestly i reaallly think that if we made a community project with a singular idea, and someone realized that STORY is THE biggest part then wed be fine.

Story is also the HARDEST part.

Losts of people, including myself, start a game without a single thing written down on paper...except a few dreams and scattered ideas.

Being that games are ALOT like movies, a script is pretty much essential. Have i ever written a script?

Heck no.

Am i gonna?
Prolly so, bc i realize this is the only way ill EVER finish my games.

My biggest problem is i want to make 3 GAMES.

_i really wanna make an Oregon Trail rpg... (you ahve died of disentary)
_i really wanna make a game called Final Fantasy remix, which takes several porular characters from FF games and reconcieves them in much the same way that KingdomHearts did...for example, in my game Seifer is Sephiroths son.
_i also really have a mixed up game thats alot like ff1...

but are any of these EVER gonna get done...i hope so...but probly not. WE all do have lives... and we dont ahve a TEAM or a Script....

we just have dreams.

if that gets your game done...right on...
but if not...well...

sorry.

i for one am gonna go write a script.

Actually there was a game finished ... kijuki posted the link a page back it was by SMB. Also didn't Robotam finish his game?

though The way I see RM2K/3 for is a starter for people who want a career in Game making or that just wanna make a game of there ideas.

I use it for both, I try to make games that I wanna see happen or "Remake" a game with my touch up's (Eample: FFTNB [Final Fantasy The New Beging] which was a FF game with characters all from FF 7,8,9, and 10 plus my own added FF characters)

But I also use RM2K to get me started on my career in Game Making .... even though I may not finish a game I discover the reason's as to why and it will help me in the future when I do make games.

Yes I would though actually like to finish a game but what happens is one of the following and I'm sure it happens to everyone on charas.

1: I Come up with another Idea for a game and stop working on my current project to work on the new idea.

2: Don't have enough time to work on the game I am making.

3: I didn't plan out before making the game and now it turned to crap.

4: My computer crashes and lost all my info and don't want to restart all over again cuz it's too much a hassle.

------------------------

Though I'm not concerned much with the graphics of the game ... Yes I don't want it to look really sucky but I am positive someone could use all "ORIGINAL" RTP and still make a game better than ones out on the market.

Some games in my opinion are actually better with cheasy graphics. Look at suikoden Personaly I liked the Suikodens 1 style of graphics better than Suikodens 3 ... it suited it better i think.

A game is all about the story, characters and developement of it. Graphics are only a small part. There sorta like movies. Some movies are really great and had no special effects or minimal effects due to not much money and still make it big.

Just give it time though and you will soon see completed games arise on charas ... Hopfully I'll be adding Ledgends Of Purgatory to those completed games. This time I'm actually planning it out first and making the game slowly so it won't be out for a while.

If you think about it, games are created by many people. possibly hundred working on different things. Did you bother to watch the credits for some RPGs? Their almost as long as Movie Credits. So when you give one person the resources to create a game, it's like giving an ant a rock and telling him to build a colony.

You may say a game is like a movie, but unlike movies, you're building an entire world. And every place, detail, and person in that world has to be created.

Along with the story, graphics, music, systems, a game can be too much for some people. So for those who get even a demo out, they should be proud, even if the game does get ranked 1.5 by Ghostclown.

What it boils down to is RPG Maker is just a game, and as teen-agers we all have enough things going on that can slow us down. We just gotta remember that's all for fun. Why else would we do it?

Some people have things they NEED to do. Making games is not a NEED TO, but a WANT TO.

I've finished 2 games, they might suck but still, they're finished and one day i might let everyone see them. All I have to do is fix my music, and find a site to host them. Anyway whatever, some games get finished just not released.

to be honest, i really enjoy editing resources more than making my games...

i dunno. i was just wondering how many of us actually finish these things.
