Emerson Elite
« on: August 09, 2005, 11:37:34 PM »
Since just about every RPG out there is either medieval or something similar, I decided to make an RPG no one really has made before. It is a superhero RPG called the Emerson Elite.

So far, it is still in the planning stages. I have developed only one character: Outcast. He starts out as a regular guy named Tobias Martindale living in Emerson City. One night in his sleep, he is transported to another plane of existence. A dark, fiery hell-like plane. After some searching, he comes to a long and narrow bridge over lava. Seeing he has nowhere else to go, he crosses. On the other side he comes to five large thrones. The middle throne is the largest. On the other four thrones are four men, each with black hair and red eyes. They chant:

"Only when the Final Heir descends
Will the Five Thrones be filled,
Only when his light inside ends
Will all the Earth's blood be spilled..."

Suddenly they begin to glow and shoot energy blasts at the blond haired, blued eyed Tobias. He is hit at the same time by each blast and screams in complete agony and terror. Not only has his hair turned black and his eyes red, but some ancient and dark power inside has been released. He screams again and wakes up... In the burning ruins of his home.

He then is forced to live in the streets, since he has no home and everyone treats him like a freak because of how he looks. And his new power is out of control. He has become... An outcast. A new name he has adopted for his new life. A new life he was forced into.

How's it sound? I was thinking through the game, Outcast teams up with other superheroes and while they are out fighting villians, they are also trying to figure out the mystery of the chant and the four men on the Thrones. What's actually going on is Outcast descends from a long line of evil mages. The Power only appears in his family evey 20 generations (about 400 years). Even rarer is when a family member figures out how to control the Power and use it for evil. Only four have accomplished this. Each one in their time grew powerful and were sent to Abikyoukan when they were killed. In Abikyoukan they figured out a curse to bind their Power together to make one all powerful one, but could not do it until they have a fifth family member with the Power. So they built five thrones and waited until one would appear... Tobias. So they brought him to Abikyoukan, and released his Power. They would've made him join their magic union then, but Tobias resisted too much and broke free. So much energy was released, that Tobias destroyed his house.
So now the four mages wait in Abikyoukan, seeing that their only option is too have Tobias bring himself to them. So now they begin to plan how this can be done.

Sounds good, you have some really good ideas. Perhaps they can be utalized in a different way. I'm not saying your story's bad, I'm saying maybe you could take it in a different direction.

Like I said, the story's still in the planning stages. So I'm open to suggestions!  :w00t:    How do you like the idea of a game about superheroes?

Hmm... maybe. I think it'd be cool if one of those family members with the bloodline used their powers for evil, and also used them to stay alive for hundreds of years and he's one of, if not THE main bad guy.

Although it seems kind of random that he just finds a bunch of people to fight with. Maybe they like, all have this secrete private organization for outcasts like himself, and they come to him seeing how he is.

Just throwing up some ideas.

Or maybe the throne guys are really working for a higher power, and when the five combine their Power, they give it to this higher power.

And for people joining him, I was thinking one or two random people could join him. So after a while they gain reputation and save the city from a horrible bad guy, the city's top superhero team (the Emerson Elite) asks them to join.

The whole Idea of superheros sounds sorta dumb to me, but then again, with that idea you can be rediciously expancesive with your characters, make great animations, etc. Also, is this going to be like a present day thing, or the clasic mideval theme? If it's present day with the buildings then this sounds awsome, but if it's just the base RPT or mid theme, then I don't know how it will come out. Diffentally a thinker

Ya, superheroes can be kinda dumb sometimes, but it depends on how you present them. It starts out in a modern day city with offices, factories, stores, etc. But later you can leave and go to different towns and citites, and fight people there too.

But, it does have a somewhat medieval theme to it. My idea is to make a normal RPG story, that just happens to be about superheroes set in modern day (now that I think about, it's actually the not so distant future). The plot could work in any normal RPG, and the characters are based on RPG character archetypes.

If you think about it, superheroes and RPGs have similarities. Both are about groups of people with special gifts and talents who take on evil bad guys and organizations, and they go on missions to find things or help people. But one difference is RPG people have names, while superheroes go by nicknames.

CHARACTERS

Outcast
If you want to hear his story, just go to beginning of this thread.
Age: 18
Hair: Blond/Black
Eyes: Blue/Red
Weapon: Sword
Power: Control over darkness, control over souls, necromancy, pyrokinesis, drain energy
Archetype: Like many RPG main characters, he uses a sword. Also, at the beginning, his home is attacked and destroyed by the bad guys. His only living relative dies. He must now venture alone, and swears to avenge the death of his family. Through the game, he must battle with inner, personal demons and battle the ones who wronged him.

Red Justice
As a secret agent, he could never tell his daughter why he was gone all the time. Eventually she came to the conclusion that he no longer cared for her, and ran away. She came to Emerson City, alone and afraid, and was taken in by Bloodbath, a saddistic leader of a dark cult dedicated to slaughtering people and bathing in their blood. Here, she was treated like family and taken care of. She didn't care that she belonged to a cult...until she saw her first mutilation. Seeing there was no way out, she accepted her new life and began to follow the teachings of Bloodbath. She was taught how to suck the life force out of people, and was renamed Decay. Meanwhile, her father; looked desperately around the world for her. He eventually came to Emerson City, and heard about a secret cult that was taking in runaways and teaching them dark magic. Fearing that his beloved daughter joined, he became the vigilante Red Justice, and tried to join the Emerson Elite, but they told him he was not good enough to join, and that they themselves were looking for the cult, but have found no trace. So now Red Justice searches for her, and an ally to help bring down the cult.
Age: 48
Hair: Grey
Eyes: Brown
Weapon: Pistol
Power: Stealth, tactics
Archetype: In many RPGs, there is a person (usually an old man) out searching for a lost/runaway child or sibling. They join the party, hoping that maybe while they're out questing, they'll run into the person they're looking for. Usually at the end of the game, they are reunited, or maybe they find the person, but does not want to make up, and runs away again. Only when they find out the person is dying, do they make up.

Vindicator
A colonel in the army, he is, as some say, the best of the best of the best. Never missed a day of boot camp, got straight A's every year of his education, never been shot, has an IQ just two points lower than Einstein, and was the first chosen to test out the army's new augmentive armor. This armor enhances his senses, strength, reflexes, endurance, and coolness. After personally winning a war, he decided to take a break from the army life by founding the Emerson Elite, a group of the world's most powerful heroes and champions, to protect Emerson City, the technology and crime center of the world.
Age: 30
Hair: Bald
Eyes: Brown
Weapon: X2 SMG
Power: Super strength, enhanced senses, super reflexes, super endurance, tactics, high intelligence, disicpline, knowledge of technology
Archetype: The killjoy soldier. Often times, a soldier joins the party. They are hardy, disciplined, and are really into what they do. They are tough as nails and have seen things most people can't even imagine. While the rest of the party goes off and enjoys the festival, the soldier sits at the bar and drinks, or goes off by himself sulking or does combat practice.

Advocate
An army general, he too helped the Vindicator found the Emerson Elite. Somewhat more lax than Vin, he enjoys a good laugh and fun, but also knows when to be serious. And like Vin, he too has augmented armor.
Age: 50
Hair: White
Eyes: Blue
Weapon: SMG
Power: Super strength, enhanced senses, super reflexes, super endurance, tactics, discipline
Archetype: Sometimes a king, general, or some other authoritive figure comes along on the adventure. While around the public, they are stern, wise, and strong; but when around the party, they are lax, kind hearted, and sometimes even insecure.

Illumina
Not sure how she got her light powers, she did know they were a gift and should be used. Taking on the name Illumina, she quickly became a powerful champion of justice, and was asked by the Emerson Elite (Vindicator and Advocate) to join. Seeing she could use her gifts even more, she joined.
Age: 20
Hair: White
Eyes: Brown
Weapon: Rod
Power: Flash of light, light energy, healing
Archetype: Every RPG group needs the morale officer. The girl who is always bright and cheerful, and makes sure everyone else is like that, too (even if they don't want to be). Often times becomes the hero's love intrest.

And for music, I'm using custom made rock/rave music.

The difference between the heros in RPGs and the heros in DC and Marvel though is that RPG heros can't fly.

Just like the difference between a gun and a bow is that you don't need blond hair and pointy ears to use the gun.

Yes, that was a joke, lmao, rofl, and lol all you want.
