DVD - RW + RW duel layer???
« on: August 24, 2005, 12:42:04 AM »
I built my computer on a very low budget, so I bought the cheepest DVD burner I could find, I think its a DVD -RW, or the '-' is just a dash mark.

Anyway, whats the differance between +RW, -RW, and duel layer. I think duel layer can hold more data, but the -R dvds would still work with a dvd player right? Or err...

Yeah, problem with google is that it just brings up ads for dvds instead of info. Plus I'm downloading a 740 MB file which will finish in two days, so my internet is going extreamly slow, and searching in google is very hard.

If the + and - just have differant writting speeds, that shouldn't be a problem. I just didn't want to go out and buy a pack of blank dvds and then figure out they don't work on my dvd player. Meh, I have to wait a few days before I get enough money to buy blank dvds anyways :p

Duel layer is the newest type of dvd, all I know is that it holds a lot more data.

I doubt I'll pirate many dvds, I'll need to rent a movie to do that anyway, I'm a very cheap person, so I won't bother spending the money.

I'll get a tv tuner for my computer, hook it up to the satalite, record a show or movie onto my hard drive, edit out the comercials, then burn it to a dvd.

You do know that with the right tools you can download whole DVD's and burn them?

You can use Emule to download a shitload of DVD's.

Yeah I know places where I can download whole dvds, but they're around 2 gigs. I have dial up, you see the problem?

Right now I'm downloading a ps game (one that I own but is too scratched to work), but its gonna take me 3 days of streight downloading, its less than half the size of a movie. I just hope we don't have to pay per minute for dial up, or my parents will kill me when they get the bill...
