Just choose which one is smaller. Whichever is smaller, would be faster for you to download.

Edit- Woot, computer is screwing up my RAR files. Oh glorious day indeed!

Well, as I was going into the room in Temeri's inn, I got this error message:

EDIT: Pyro sent me the villager and I added it to the file to fix it. Maybe it was a download problem or something...

XD

And I realize that there are a few errors and such.  But, by next week, I'll have a fixed demo with more content on Chapter 2.

Oh, and I forgot to mention something.

EVERYTHING with a CD in front of it is not open to the public use.  That and my main character charsets.  All recources with a CD in front of it were either made by me, edited by me, compiled by me, or made for me.  So, I'd appreciate it if you guys would refrain from using those recources.  Thanks.  :)

I didn't finish it yet, I died in the cave. I don't know if I was supposed to lose the first time against that lizard thingy, but anyway after I lost I was out of all my healing items, then when the battle started again, all I could do was attack and I couldn't do anything to heal my party. Yeah, the boss picked off my best char right away and then took out my party.

But a few things about your game that I have noticed so far..

FF9 title theme for your title themes is probably not the best thing to do.
I heard at least one other FF9 track and i think some other big game peices in there.
The begining maps in that lab, ship, whatever, were pretty empty, basically maps with big open spaces.
The town map was kinda blah with only 3 buildings, all spaced out from eachother, nothing really eye-catching there.
If you walked behind a church bench, you're head gets cut off.
Maybe I wasn't paying attention, but when we were sent off to go to the guys home town, I had no idea where that was or how to get there, I kinda had to wander around aimlessly to figure out where to go.
The hero world map sprite didn't seem to be finished as sometimes his hair was blond, and other times it was black.
The dungeon was neat with the spike thingies and holes, but it was too repeditive. There wasn't a big variety of chips used, it was all the same puzzle/theme, and it seemed to drag on, especially in that one room where there was a ton of lizards, it didn't do much good to fight them cuz they didnt deal any damage and didn't give a whole lot of exp points, it just seemed like they were there to eat up time.
Then the boss type thing was way too hard compared to the normal enemies considering the second time I fought him it was impossible for me to heal any of my guys since I already used all the items up because I thought if I lost that battle I would lose the game.
Then finally I don't think the characters were that balanced since the main character did one hit of 18 while the other dude did two hits of 20 something.

I do have to say though that the battle system looked very nice and the story seems to be going very nice so far. Maps are good for the most part. So all the big stuff you have down good, theres just a bunch of little stuff that could use work.

I'll say more once i get further :)

>.>  *Phew*  Well, allow me to explain myself.

Well, yes...you are supposed to lose the first time.  So...I guess...you should conserve your items.  It's meant to be that way, and to catch the player off guard.

FF9 theme.....sorry but I'm stickin with it.  Made a promise to myself.  lol

As for the map in the Lab.  There's not really much more to put in it.  It's an underground man made structure.  So naturally, it's more open then...a town or forrest.

When you get to Baven...it's small and spaced out because if you talk to people...it's just a rest stop for travelers.

You were confused where to go, because you didn't pay attention.  :p  They're gonna venture to Skylars hometown.  So, once you get out of the World Map...the only place where you can go is South...so it just goes from there.

I know some sprites and poses aren't finished.  In the next release, that'll all be fixed.

Now...when it comes to the dungeon.  I understand what you're getting to with this.....BUT! keep in mind......this is only the first dungeon of the game.  So...you gotta git it a bit of a leaway(sp?)....

It's unbalanced in the beggining, because Haru doesn't get any new weapons.  So he has to be stronger from the beggining to keep up with the other Heroes later on.

And the Boss....just use strategy.  Dont rush to use up all your MP right away.  ;)

Anyways, I hope this answered all your questions and such.  Glad you like it so far.  ^^'

Nice. But I found some things that need to be worked on.

1st In the can there a place where spikes should be but aren't

2nd You can walk on some things I don't think you should...

3rd The monster poses are a little boreing.

4th Skyler is a litte on the crappy side.I mean it takes him three blows to kill a gekco..

But overall so far so good.Haru Rocks!

Lol, well I was paying attention there, I knew I was supposed to go to his hometown, but I had no idea where that was. It may be a good idea to tell the player where the town is, and that you need to go south past the bourder to get there. I know you can figure it out easily since theres basically only one way to go, but I believe that it would be better if you didn't have the player guessing where the town is when one or both of your characters knows where it is.

The player can't know that he/she is supposed to save their items. I'm sure I could have beat him the first time if I knew that, but the point is that I didn't, and I was pretty much screwed because when I fought the battle I could win, my chars weren't prepared. Maybe you could add a few healing items back to the party when the next char comes, like he has some with him that he gives to the party. Or make the boss a little easier so that healing items won't be required to beat him.

As for using the MP attacks, the MP attacks for Haru are worse than his normal attacks, and using Skyler's heals the boss. I don't remember the other chars mp attacks, but I don't remember them being any better than his normal ones.

Lol, if you promised to use the FF9 track, then go for it  :p

I got that, but either way, its just kinda boring. Even if its supposed to be that way, this (and the intro maps) are the first things you see in your game. Making a good impression by having interesting maps at the start of the game will get people interested and hooked on your game before they get hooked on it because of the story.

So yeah, those are my suggestions  :p I'm currently at school, so I can't play through more of your game now, but I'll try to when I get home  ;)

I have to disagree with you there, DB. I thought it was quite a good idea. I mean, really if you lose on the second one from losing all your items then you just go load your game and say "Ok, this time I won't use the items first." I think it works because many players will lose the first time, and that's how I think some bosses should be. Even though it is the first boss, it adds a chance of getting a game over, which I feel is happening less and less in RPGs people are making. They are either far to easy (almost never losing) or too ridiculously hard (less common, but I've played some where all you can do is attack and I lose by attacking which is the only thing I can do anyway).

One flaw I found that wasn't mentioned yet is the dashing system, but you said you were fixing some errors. Anyway, what happened was my walking speed became fast (either like the dash or maybe faster than the dash, I couldn't tell) and my dashing speed became extremely fast. This all happened when I left Baven. I noticed I moved on the world map faster and sure enough, all of my movement was faster. I have to say I haven't played many games with perfect dashing systems (even DB's old demo's dashing system was flawed  :o), which is why I'm choosing not to do one. I hope you can fix it though!

Hmm....ok, I see what you mean.  I'll let the player know to go South.

And coaster is right.  I can't really explain it more then he did, because he said it just right.  Nobody wants a boring and oredictable Boss.  lol
