Single pixles that won't go away
« on: September 14, 2005, 06:33:19 PM »
No matter what I do, there are always a couple of pixles around character, where there shouldn't be any.
The background is a solid color (at least in my graphics program) and I have it's color selected as the invisible one, but they're still there. I've also tried several background colors with the same (or worse) result.
Here's a picture of what I'm talking about

There aren't many, but they are anoying like hell in game.

Does anybody have any idea how to get rid of them?

They're very slightly differently colored pixels around the characters. Try manually outlining each character with a pencil tool in your preferred image editing program with the color of the background and see if that fixes it.

The boxes in the picture aren't the background, but screenshots from the actual game. The real background is just white.
Sorry, I should have said that right away.

Edit: I tried the manual out-lining anyway and it worked. Thanks a lot for the tipp!

I still think it's weird though. Even on 1600% resolution I still see only white. Ah, well.

Thanks again!

Yeah. To clarify, I did know what you meant.

Our eyes can't notice it, but the computer recognizes the slightest change in color to be a totally different color. When someone flood fills a background with something like Anti-alias still enabled, then there are pixels left around the character that aren't the exact same color as the chara itself. This can also happen with some conflicts on the limits of 256 colors in a sprite in the generator.

If you have a program like Fireworks, you can check the actual hex code of any color and see if it's the same color as the background or slightly different.

Which is exactly why I flood fill the backgroung pink or green or something not on any of the characters.

I didn't know that. One learns something new every day.
So, basically, I'd just have to turn  anti-alias off.
