Recruiting: The Fall Of David Hayes
« on: January 16, 2006, 08:43:51 PM »
Yep I'm back attempting a game.  This time I'm going to make a team up because I can't do it all myself.  My job is going to be storyline, mapping, and database work.  Heres what I need-
-Coders(nothing too fancy no cbs or cms but maybe edited dbs, mini games, stuff like that)
-Mappers(I can't do all the mapping myself I'm not the best at it)
-Resource Maker/Finder(I can find resources but can't make them so I'll need some help on that)

Storyline-(without giving too much away)
A man (David Hayes) is just a regular collage student who gets accidently involved with a gang.  The rival gang member who was a childhood friend of David's, sees David with them.  This pisses him off and decides that him and his gang should get revenge by turning the gang against him.  Now David has two gangs against him.  Only one of the gang members that David got involved with is not against David and knows a place north of where David is with an apartment and work for him.  One of David's friends (Robert Taine) not involved in gangs decides to go with him.  David and Robert take a train to the city and thats where the game starts.  There is of course more I could tell you but I think that is enough for now.(Not all of this is definate so if anyone has better ideas it can change)

I'll come back later to put some more stuff up.  If you want to help out or if you have any better ideas for the storyline go ahead and post.

Don't make a game, post hardly any info, and ask for help. You, my newbie friend, are much like other people on here with less then 10 posts that desided to post an IDEA they have rather then a GAME they have, and have everyone else do the majority of work for you.

"Game" Opinion: Meh Plot.

That's funny, since cybercyborg's been here longer than me.

Anyways, I like the prospects of an gang-related game, but I think you need a CBS, maybe something like meiscool's. Something where you can run and dodge things mid-battle.

I don't think you'll be able to assemble a team though.

My bad, I just assumed that if he's been here longer then me that he would know what people want to hear/read and what they don't want to read, thus the thought of "ZOMG newb!" crossed my mind, but seeing as he's just a slow learner, meh.

Not everyone does things the way you do, Meis. If you didn't want to help him because all he had was an idea, fine, but it doesn't other people wouldn't want to. Posting a game idea is fine, if it goes no where, than that's fine too. w/e, it died, who cares?

Meiscool can be an @ss, just ignore him.

Mostly everyone here is buisy with their own projects and such, and though a lot of people would like to help other people with their projects, reality is, they just don't have the time or the will to put down their own project to work on someone elses. Don't say you can't do everything by yourself, because you can. Sure, maybe it'll turn out better if other people do some coding or some mapping, but the only way you'll get better is if you work hard on everything yourself. If you really want a game, you have to be commited to it, and you can't let ANYTHING stop you from making it.

I've always made everything in my game myself. The only time I ever needed someone elses help was when I needed voice actors, cuz well, it'd be pretty hard for me to play multiple roles, especially for female characters. Working by yourself gets things done faster, you won't have to rely on other people to get stuff done and send it to you to move on. Plus transfering maps and scripts can be quite tedious and sometimes it would just be easier if you would do them yourself.

Anyway, good luck :)

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN
