:bend: Okay, I'm gonna pretend to consider your opinion about fan games = bad before I do whatever the hell I want...

Hmmm....  I like my idea better.

On that note I hope people realize that I posted ONE map.

The storyline is brief because I didn't want to overload my site with facts.

And one final thing, going back to the everybody hates fan games, Please take note that the game could be exactly the same except for the title, and it wouldn't be called a fan game.

So if I change the title will everyone be happy? Yes?

I don't care. :smoke:

Well, as much as I agree with the "fangames = pure suckage" philoshophy, I am inclined to respect your pure devotion to your ideals.  With enough work, anything, even a FF Fangame, set in the future no less, can turn out good. Perhaps you can show us all what a fangame should be (I personally don't have high hopes, but who cares). The maps aren't dreadful... I've seen worse... and I know all of you have as well. As a side note, FF Endless Nova was pretty good.

STICK IT TO THE MAN!

My bad, that was an overeaction then. I maintain my opinion that my game isn't really a fan game, just something that's labled as "Final Fantasy". But I've decided to change the name anyway just to keep everyone happy. So visit the site  again and see what you think of Chaos Source - The non-fangame set in the future  :frag:

I give an inspirational speech and you change the name... oh well. Sometimes you have to go against what you believe for what is best.

I pulled this definition for fangame off Wikipedia:
Fangames are computer and video games made by fans featuring popular based on one or more established video games. Many fangames attempt to clone the original game's design, gameplay and characters, but it is equally common for fans to develop a unique game using another only as a template.

Thus, by merely using the Final Fantasy title, even while creating a completely unique game, it is still a fangame.

By the way... you messed up the second link, it goes to http://charas-project.net/forum/freewebs.com/ffchaossource (aka, not your site... might wanna fix that!)

You're still working with a futuristic sci-fi game though, which is equally hard to make enjoyable. Good luck.

Now that I actually read the info on your site... the story does does only have a little more depth than an average episode of Teletubbies. Which is understandable, since I believe that you are just starting with it. All good things take time huh?

The story doesn't seem too bad, but it definately needs some fleshing out.  One thing bugs me though, your grammar.  I've already found too many mistakes on your website alone.  For anything other than chatrooms and IMs, you should use proper english (assuming you use english), with proper grammar.  That's my opinion at least.

Don't say "It's only one map"  Besides that fact that there are two, every map should look nice.  Having excellent maps, then "BAM!! crappy map" is in a way worse then consistent crappiness.  At least then it can be a theme.  I recommend looking in the tutorials section, perhaps read meiscool's map tutorial.

All right, just out of curiosity- if the only tie to Final Fantasy is the name in the title, kind of like Spirits Within, why call it Final Fantasy in the first place? Calling it FF sets up certain expectations, and if its not FF you're free to actually do whatever the hell you want, as you so eloquently put it.

I dunno. Whole "Fan Game" element aside, why call it FF if its not FF? Just make your own game.

*Edit* I'll leave the original post, but accept an apology for missing the actual retraction of FF from the title. Got lost in the scroll.
