Oh Windows, you silly, silly thing.

So here's the thing.
Last night, and a every 4 or so nights before it, I've had trouble turning it off. Like it shut down all the programs, then just sit there. Given more time it would probably work, but you all know me, I'm impatient.

So I turn it on this morning and BAM
""Windows cannot load the locally stored prtofile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator."
As far as I know I AM the network administrator, so that didn't help. I've rebooted multiple times but I still get put into the same TEMP profile, in which nothing can be saved.

According to the internet, such a problem could hint that my folder has been deleted from my Documents and Settings. :o
But this is not the case. That folder and all 124 GB of stuff still exists.

So... help.

Google says "run chkdsk"
So that's what I'm doing. Chances are noone will post, then I'll fix it, and it'll have been pointless posting here, lol.

Couldn't you make a new profile with admin rights? At least you don't have a mac.

Hmmm... I think I had this problem before, I just don't remember how to fix it. Have you tried setting your system to a previous date?

I don't what that program is called in english, but if I translate it, it would be 'Systemrecovery'. It's under 'System' submap in the All Programs fuction of Start. You can try it, but it's not a quarenteed win situation.

Well I've slowly managed to get almost everything back. Clearly it was just one particular file that was screwed which damned the whole thing over. I'm currently on my first account now, having taken everything off of it and on to another account (which is now experiencing the same problem as I started with) and then taking some of it back.

Quest almost over.

Well, it's all back to normal, save for the extra log in. But I'll just delete that with the admin log in.

Also, my registry thing seems to be clean, so none of my programs are in my program menu, lol.

Crisis over.

Yep, do what Drace said. You could ScanDisk, then DiskCleanup, then DiskDefragmenter. That should clump all the files you need together.

Funny thing is, sometimes the ScanDisk has an error where a file isn't recognized(fixable with Defrag), and when you go to Defrag, it says there's an error and you should try ScanDisk.

I also get this error message every time I start up my computer:

ERROR: has caused a problem in Explorer. Could not execute Main. Explorer will now close. (Explorer governs the entire visual mainframe of the computer.)

And this funny one, sometimes:

ERROR:Photoshp has cause an error in Adobe Photoshop. Adobe Photoshop is not responding. Adobe Photoshop will now close.
(or something similar)

Or some REALLY ANNOYING THING on Photoshop:

ERROR:Could not execute Adobe Photoshop, because the scratch disks are full. Please free up more RAM or scratch disk space and try again.

(To clear the scratch disks, Photoshop needs to be open!)
