Prologue

Night was a curtain of soft-silken sky, drawn up over the dark and rhythmic sea. High in heaven, above the blue, a single drop of lily white shone out in the darkness, while the waves danced amidst the long, silvery ribbons.

Gently, the wet sand shifted beneath her barren feet, and pulled back as she tread. In thin lines of homage, the clear waves ran up the shore, filling in the pooled footprints and restoring the un-touched perfection, dutifully, and with silent ease.

She was part of the night; part of the moon; an ethereal figure in nature’s dark. For once there was harmony and balance, for the light from the sky shone upon her sad face, and the broken reflection echoed in the restless waves. Land, sea, and sky; dark and light. All were equal. All were present.

With slow, steady steps she stepped into the sea; Neptune’s orchestra playing softly as her body melted into the abyss.

They say that the darkness began on that day- that from the moment the goddess left us we were doomed to die. Perhaps that is the case. That somewhere in eternity we too will disappear. But until  then it is our duty to try and find that place- the place where heaven and earth met, and the light of heaven departed. This is our only hope.

They were called the “Chosen Ones” the people who were to find The Sea. They alone knew the secrets of our world- but they are gone now. All that is left is their legends; legends of a place where water stretches as far as the sky, and a time when a star shone so brightly that the world seemed white.

It is no secret that our planet is dying, and yet we still ignore the fact. Do you blame us? What can we do but carry on like we always have- working the land to the best of our ability and hoping that the end does not come in our lifetime. It is dismal, I know, to live like this. But it is all we have.

Until we can find The Sea, it is all we have.

Concept (in case you didn’t get it): There is a land of eternal night. Things have dark for many generations, and for that time the planet has been slowly dying. There is not enough food or water to feed the already staggering population, and the future seems dim.

Legend has circulated of a place where heaven and earth meet each other, and humanity can reach the gods. The exact location of this place (known only as “The Sea”) was lost when an earthquake buried the city which held the only detailed records and maps of the world.

It is a fantasy setting, however players must be more or less human. By fantasy I mean it is has monsters, magic, legend etc. When looking at historical time periods, the setting reflects the Classical Era (think Greece, Rome, Persia etc)

I will begin with signups and then we can get into the RP.

Some tips on character application

*Please fill it out with the best mechanics you can. Try typing in word first.

*Fill out the sheet to the best of your ability. If you find when you start playing the character some things aren't working for you, that's normal. But please do your best to create at least a starting point and something to (for the most part) stick to.

*Please do not make perfect characters.

*Please do not use anything Japanese.

*When RPing please use good mechanics and conventions. If you can, please use "quotations" rather than script.

*Please try to make your character as realistic as possible (considering this is a fantasy realm)

*Please try to balance out your character's abilities/personality with the other characters.

*Please feel free to make suggestions

Thanks.

-----------------------------------------------

Name: Rosemary Lux

Gender: Female

Class: N/A

Powers: Can call upon the mountain wind.

Approximate Age: 17

Appearance: Dark hair, light eyes and skin that is thick and tanned from working in the sun. Her hands are rough and her legs are lean and muscular. Her hair is woven carefully to avoid getting in her face (and to minimize the number of required baths) while the rest of her seems ill-kept.

Personality: She is somewhat strange and in all seems less than eager to please. Around people she is very “rough” around the edges and will not hesitate to demand someone do something. She treats others a lot like sheep, and “herds” them around, not really seeing the problems she causes. As well, in most cases doesn’t try to help them with their burdens, but –rather- stands by and is amused.

She is easily distracted and usually doesn’t like to do the same thing for long periods of time. Often she will begin to do things without explaining them, much to the confusion of people who will be having a conversation with her and then will suddenly see her leave them.

She can’t read, but she is good at solving problems and analyzing. As well, she is fairly fast and has a good reaction time.

Despite her (numerous) personal shortcomings, she at least has a smile (and a somewhat humorously challenging expression) on her face most of the time. She loves to laugh when she can, and (though a bit strange) she has a good sense of humour. As well, when the time comes, she can be very serious, and at other times her raw honesty can be very sweet.

Equipment (if any): Shephard’s Staff, Sheering knife. One sandal. Will change soon (hopefully).

History: She was born in a small village near the interior of the continent, the fifth child to her parents and the only one to survive past childhood. At fourteen she was married to a sheepherder, who died a week into the marriage when (while trying to catch a rogue sheep) he tripped and accident stabbed himself with his own sheering knife.

She didn’t like him anyways.

For the next three years she spent her time in the mountains tending to her late husband’s flock (who she has come to relate to better than people). She rarely visits town for knowledge of her social misfit. Because of this and her estrangement, she has come to be known somewhat as the “crazy sheep lady.”

She has only one sandal at the moment, as the other one was stolen by aforementioned rogue sheep. She doesn’t know where it was put, but will not get new ones out of stubbourness.

You look like my grandmother.
edit: when she was young. You don't look like you're 80.

Last night I had a dream that Zerlina and I were pirates. It was... beautiful.
