Anvil Studio is apparently good for making Midis, and it's free, but personally, I just use FL Studio.

I've got Note Worthy Composer for MIDIS, but I'm not sure if it's THAT good :p

Do a google search, there should be plenty of programs.

you need hardware for that, but Cubase is good without the peripherals.

Reason 2.0- For the $300.00 price tag, it is wroth the money, if you are good enough that is.  The insturments sound so realistic.  If you have a good damn Keyboard Controller, you can create your own music.

Fruity Loops Series-If you are into Rap, hip-hop, tencho, and house, this program is right for you.  A lot of kids in my high school go up to our Strings teacher to use this to make thier own beats.
