Dreamers

Okay, the last time I submitted a game, I recieved less-than-enthusiastic results. This, I blame on being an uber-n00b. That, and when I really looked at it, I thought, "Too much. I should trim down."

Less is more, right?

So, I've been at it for about year, planning. And, so, here it is. All I have are a few sprites--meaning, only two characters. Also, only the first map is done, and it's a doozy. So, here:
Kutis:http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n278/Djanki/Kurtz.png
17-year-old, narcoleptic High School student. Finds a weapon called
the Magun (as in, "Magic Gun"). Somewhat stiff-natured, and a little
dense as to how the world is. A very logical-yet-open-minded person. Doesn't have a love interest in Tessa.

Tessa:http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n278/Djanki/Tessa.png
18-year-old mage in training. Can change her appearance to make herself look younger or older (trying to make that fit into a battle ability). Does a good job at keeping her cover. Doesn't have a love interest in Kurtis.

This is the map in question, at 1/4 size.

I think it's a little too big, even for a castle...

I just started the planning stages, and it's gonna be tough, seeing as time for me is short, and I gotta do everything alone.

The Story? Kinda cliche. Kurtis and friends get stuck somehow in an alternate world, they get out, get powers, and go off to develop them. The game focuses on Kurtis, though his other three friends show up from time to time. There are two other 'official' members to the party, Zircon (as in, 'Cubic Zircona'), and Yatamaru, but I don't have their sprites yet.

Opinions?

I don't think the castle's too big... Might not all be carpeted though, but sometimes carpet and stone together can look really bad so it might be best to leave it...

It's a good idea to look at the castles around the FF4 period. They were pretty good castles. Lots of smaller rooms giving the impression of it being bigger and able to house many people.

Cruuuuuuud! I KNEW that name sounded familiar!!

No, actually, it's a different weapon--it uses the wielder's own energy as a bullet, rather than summoning something...

Thanks for the good critics, though. A note: I've only just started, and this castle isn't all that big--it's only the intro space, the space where we start up, then someone comes along as says, "The story starts here!" and warps us to where the story begins. Nonetheless, I hope to be able to get good reviews! ^_^
