There was something incredibly sad about the image of talking to the bird and then finding it dead in it's cage the next day.

Maybe it committed suicide. You never know. Frustrated with it's dead end job and repetitive lifestyle, it first learned to pick locks and then found it's way into the medicine cabinet before staggering back to it's cage. It's last words were "I'll always love you, Polly"

To which the bird in the cage next to his replied " eight plus eight is sixteen"
