Firefox's Latest Update
« on: November 27, 2007, 06:58:50 PM »
Last night, I updated Firefox to version 2.0.0.10, and not unlike every past Firefox update, I expected nothing to occur. So when I started up my computer this morning, I was intrigued when Firefox started asking if I wanted to import my favorites from Internet Explorer. I assumed it thought I was recently tooling around with IE, so I just ignored it. Once I started up a browser, I realized that all my bookmarks were gone!

*oh noes!*

But fear not! If you have this problem as well, just go to C:|Program Files|Mozilla Firefox|defaults|profile and delete localstore.rdf to get your stuff back. You may be one of the more fortunate ones out there, but assuming you got shafted like I did, thank me for finding a solution and bringing it back here for your internetting pleasure.

EDIT: Replace "|" with one of these --> \

Well, I'm glad that this fixer-uper worked. It's nice being able to go to and from my bookmarked locations with ease.

It use to happen to me from time to time after my history folder got to filled..... but it only deleted my bookmarks and not my bookmarks toobar...  I started deleting my history on the 5th day or so.. and it's been almost a year since I've had my stuff deleted.

I only use firefox to access my wireless internet at school (and charas at home) otherwise I just use AOL (cuz I have too..). AOL has deleted my favorites several times before, but then mysteriously re-adds them all a few months later...

I'm only using version 1.07 of firefox

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN
