Ok here goes: MY sweet game i have been trying to make has 4 main characters.

Title: RPG Extreme

Megaman.exe

Mario

Basically each character will individually pass through a world similar to those they have been seen in countless times. Meeting a load of wacky characters and going through a hilarious plot that i havent thought up of yet i want to make this game a spoof but a good one thats also fun to play.

When each character passes their world there will be a cutscene at the end of all their adventures of them getting teleported into a mixed world that can have any character/design where they will have join up to fight the boss who has intertwined their fates together.

A thing i wanted to do is to make every adventure feel like it should be.

I.E.

Make pokemon feel like pokemon

zelda like zelda

mario like a 2d scrolling mario but with rpg like towns

and megaman like the battle network series all into one game where players will have a variety of different gameplay.

I can design levels and worlds and the plot and all the cahracters and everything. My only downfall is that I dont get a thing in coding :( or events etc. i fiddle around with it but i usually end up confusing myself.

Im gonna need some serious coaching like screenshot tutorials or even some help in making the game for anyone who likes my idea and would be willing to partner with me.

Hey good to see you so eager! Just put the game on full screen and press the printscreenSysRq button to grab a screenshot (or use a capture program if you have one). Then paste the image in paint.

Try and get various screenshots of the menu, towns, fields and battles. Then host them on a site or have them as an attachment here. (Hosted pictures are preferred). Once i see some screens I can help you on anything you don't get (hopefully).

I great tutorial on taking screenshots is as such.

Press the Button right next to F12. It says Print Screen. Then go into Paint.
Then Press paste.


Might want to watch your wording.LOL

Yeah :p right now you have link there twice.

The big problem is that this game would take an unholy amount of work. It takes a lot of work and commitment to make a game feel like pokemon and have that style.  It takes a lot of work and commitment to make a game feel like mario and have that style... See where I'm getting at? Your game would take four times as long to make coding wise as any other game and most games take years.

I'd advise against it since it's your first project. You don't have to take my advice, though.

No, your point is well taken but i don't think that my designing skills are gonna improve over my first game or second or third, get my drift? But i can take it slow and learn the techniques. I'd rather make it a good game that takes a while than to have a poorer quality game made in a short amount of time. Kinda like what we've being seeing in the video game industry lately.

This game reminds me of my first game. I basicly had a trillion video game characters mashed into what game with the Save-the-Princess style plot. The graphics clashed, too.

Hopefully your game will kick butt. I have one question, do you play as all of those characters or pick one at the start to play as?

Well i guess i was gonna designate a character for the player and have him collect the 4 greatest warriors (Mario, Link, Megaman.exe, Ash) so when you fight you would have the main character and then add on characters as you go. But i'm still deciding whether it will be a like the megaman bad guy selection screen or if the story will go from one world to another without you being able to choose who goes first. The pro to picking is obviously more freedom, but the con is programing the bosses to be harder if you have 3 characters with you as oppose to one, unless theres a way to program that.

I dunno, any suggestions? P.S. can I have a copy of your game to see how it feels mixing and matching?

To make it so the bosses have a difficulty relative to the order in which they're chosen, you'll need to have four pages for each boss, with the same fight at four difficulties. The best way to activate them is have the first page require variable A to be 1, the second page require variable A to be 2, the third page require variable A to be 3 and the fourth page require variable A to be 4. Each time you choose a level from the selection screen, make variable A increase by 1.

Do you understand any of that or do you need to be taught everything from the ground up?

I think you'll definitely need to go over it but  right now might be too soon considering i don't have my bosses yet, thanks though now that i know that it's an option i'm gonna do it.

Update:

Did a lot of thinking and my game will be way different than i had described. new plot, well an actual plot this time and not all worlds will feel like original, I've added a new touch to some of them that I think everyone would enjoy!!!  But everything is still a secret shh........... And No demo will be released, just the final game but that's way in the future.

Need some input for a battle system that can integrate battle styles from all the game characters.
