Arcana

You start off in a fortune teller’s tent. You are asked a series of questions, then you are shown what you Tarot Card is, and the meaning of it. You can opt to retake the test one more time or start the rest of the game.

Only one card is chosen. So you have a 1 in 44 chance of getting a really good character. Such as one that would level up fairly fast, or a strong melee cahracter, or mage character. The card will decide what type of character you have to be. Yes you could get the Magician Card upright making you able to cast spells better, or you could get it reversed making it so your horrible at spells, thus leaving you two options.
-Upright : Be a mage and rock, or be melee, thief, etc. and not advance
as well
-Reversed : You could be a mage, and be horrible, or be average in any
other job.
Also, there will be various libraries around the world you can visit. Ranging inmany different styles of books and poems and such. Depending on what your Tarot Card was you may learn something or nothing at all.

When you are able to leave you say thank you to the women and pay her 5ž (Phylons). You walk out into the circus, and see kids running back and forth and people talking. There are various games to be played and win money or items.

List of Games:
Guess the weight of the beautiful girl!
Quizzes
Timing games (if I can program them right)
Dream reading (Lonewolf)
Matching game (Lonewolf)

Thanks to lonewolf for two ideas.
You can choose to leave the circus now after getting what you wanted, or you can stay and watch the show. If you choose the show, you are teleported into the big tent. You watch the show; have not decided what will really happen during this time yet.
Then you leave the tent, and are free to roam around the circus again if you wish. Or you may leave.
When you leave you hear screams near by. You do not know what they are caused by but you can choose to help or wait. If you help you of course run off to scene of the crime and help this young girl. Or wait, and you see a young man come from the scene. Either way you are finally introduced. Until this point you, as the player, do not know your name or even why you’re at a darn circus anyway.
Your name is Trent Adams, a rogue explorer. You have few cares in the worlds beside what you really treasure. You’ve been traveling the countryside ever since you were able to leave. You learned simple rules of combat from people in every town. You lived in a small village that had been destroyed by the Red Sickness years before. During the time this had spread through the land, you were off traveling a neighboring continent with your uncle. You were 16 at the time, and upon returning guards told you whole story of what the country was going through. You and your uncle were shuffled away to a safe place. You never saw your parents again. Your uncle and you had survived, along with everyone who could make it to a safe place. You left at twenty-two and today is the anniversary of your 4th year roaming. You just happened to stop by the circus as your were roaming and figured it would be a good anniversary gift for yourself.
In either path you will say this. Of course you can also to ask the male about the noises and “make” him take you to the girl, after a battle. There is also gonna be a random factor as to if she is dead or not. OR you can just leave him alone or again, beat him up for his money. So have fun playing the beginning of the game.
There will also be many other choices like this throughout the game. And if you choose to not interfere with something or choose to let someone die, there will be small conversations about it if you enter a close town. You may even find a relative of that person or persons.

There is a loosly based story line, that I am stil perfecting, but it changes on your reactions to different quests.

Character:
There is only one.

Sounds interesting, but I can't help thinking that I might just restart the game until I got a good card.

I'd rather it be a personality test like in Tactics Ogre/Ogre Battle.

Well, I was planning on giving a choice where you can choose if you like it or not. Saying the fortune teller must not have done it right.  Then again each card will have its good an bad points. Right now i'm finishing up the card details and the first card THE FOOL says that you are Carefree yet impulsive. So your defence is a bit lower then normal since you do not care, but your speed is increased because you are impusive. Making a good thief type character. Or like THE DEVIL says you are greedy but have an animal nature.  Making your boutny from killing people higher but making you go beserk every once in awhile. But the reverse would give you liberation and healing. Making your character more open to healing spells and such.

Still more kinks to work out in my idea. And the fact I have to re-download RPGMaker on my labtop.

I have a quick quesion, would RPGM2K3 or RPGMVX be better...or is there no free version of VX.

***EDIT***
Just saw aboutsoandthis's post.

I see what you mean making it a test. Hmm...I could possibly get the lady to ask you a few questions that would lead to what card would be shown. Might be easier coding. Hmm...like I said still working out the kinks.
