Save Charas! (aka Dragonium's Supervillain Challenge)
« on: June 07, 2008, 10:39:59 PM »
Reposting this on account of Charas eating it.

Anyway, greetings, Charas.

You may have noticed that Charas’ recent downtime. You will probably have heard that this is due to some crazy maintenance stuff going on. However, as Charas’ resident supervillain, I feel you should know the truth. The truth is that this was due to my new Prototype Superweapon. It’s certainly powerful, but some aspects of it need to be fixed. Those furry dice need taking down, for one.

Most supervillains would be content to let this serve as a warning of my power and threatening-ness. However, it’s my villainous policy to make sure I fire the Superweapon as often as possible. And that’s why I’m going to do it again.

However, this time, just for my amusement, I’m going to give you a chance to prevent this from happening. The Superweapon currently takes far too long to charge up; it is powered by the souls of young children who have wandered into my lair, and those “caution: possible paedophile operating in this area” signs are driving away all my business.

Once it’s started (and I may or may not have pressed Fire a few times while typing this), the only way to stop it is with the 8-digit numerical Abort Code. This can be calculated by a series of puzzles, which of course I’ll give to you.

The deal is this: work through the puzzles, get the 8-digit numerical code, and send it to me in a PM. Don’t post answers here. You have one week exactly – until sometime on Sunday 14th. If I receive the correct code via PM within that time, the firing of the Superweapon and partial annihilation of Charas will be averted. Also, whoever sends me the correct answer will receive a shiny new Award for their profile which everyone else can be jealous of[/U]. You can enter as many times as you wish, but if I get a load of entries from you it’ll be obvious you’re guessing and one of my Bioweapons will be dispatched to your position. Do not pester me for clues, or you will be set on fire.

Just to reiterate, you may discuss things here, but you may enter only via PM. Do not post answers here. Some people failed to understand this last time. Those people were from Brazil and their name rhymed with a type of popular liquor.

Anyway Charas, begin. The clock is ticking. Ehehehehe... *Dramatic exit*

I know, but it's funnier when I victimise you.

EDIT: Also, my PM thing won't let me reply to PMs for some reason. To Cerebus, sorry, you're incorrect. Reasonably close though.

I'm not imposing a limit on the number of tries you can have, but if I get more than 4 or so I'm going to start throwing blunt objects at you.

Aw... well, good to know I was close... Now I just need to find which one(s) is/are wrong... so I don't get even farther from the answer.

Yes. Don't you remember? Osmose had to build an entire new forum to replace the old one. Luckily this new one's pretty slick so no-one seems to mind.
