Aw, dammit. I just had to check up on it while the demo was down. Oh well...

Anyway, Muraiko... I had this idea. Right now I´m in the middle of a project with a friend of mine, but recently he hasn´t showed up online, and I can´t really make much progress with the game if I´m not in contact with him.

Sooo, tell you what. Once you get a stable demo out, I´ll play it. If I like it, (I´m sure I will, it looks and sounds very promising) I´ll be more than willing to do the graphics for it.

                                                                           ******THE DEMO IS HERE!!!******
Finally! I'm sorry if I kinda left you some of you guys in the dust who wanted to play my game, but believe me, you wouldn't want to with all of those glitches. I guess it must have been some time since I last checked up on my game. I've been creating so much, that I forgot completly to check out if my events work fully. In fact, the only time I do remember playing my own game, is testing out new systems I made. I'll try to be more watchful now, and test out each scene, and not just assume it'll work.

Anyway, here is my demo, hot and fresh out of the oven! I hope you guys like it:

http://rapidshare.com/files/198852423/Arcane_Odyssey.rar.html

Oh, and I didn't mention this before, but there is a fancy word document in the folder once you download it. It's titled: "Read Me". Please read this first before playing my game, because it tells how to disable "Hot Keys" or "Sticky Keys". It also gives you a basic list of all the key functions.

Again, sorry for making some you guys wait, who where interested in the begining. And as for you people who downloaded it already, please get the updated demo now. Feel free to transfer your own saved file over to this new folder, and you should still be able to continue off from where you last saved.

Uberpwn, thanks for the offer. If you want to help out, that would be greatly apreciated. If not, then that's okay too. The demo is right above, so please check it out, and tell me your answer. You'll probably see that I'm almost a lost cause when it comes to maps.

Oh, sorry Fisherson. I didn't take to account people with medical conditions...

Actually, whenever you hit an enemy, the sprite flashes white quickly, I don't know if that's not a big deal or not.

Whenever you go into battle, the screen will flash just once quickly, and then you see a screen transistion, taking you to the battle field.

If you're fighting unarmed, and attack, I think I programed for the screen to flash if you get a critical hit. But don't worry, that's only unarmed. Just make sure you have a weapon equiped at all times. Getting a critical with a weapon will just make a sound effect.

The screen does start flashing instantaniously a couple of times, after you pass the first cave in the game (After recruiting Davin), due to a scene when Manako falls ill. It's really quick though. And after you reach the town of Telba, the screen flashes as well, due to another scene.

Also, after you finish the demo, and have the choice of watching the funny slideshow I made, maybe it's best if you don't because at the end of the slide show, during the musical performance, the screen will change colors many times, and flash white alot. If you don't want to watch it all together, or you'd just cover your eyes, and wait for the music to stop, it's up to you. I'm really sorry though. I should have considered the audience of who might play my game...

Other than that, I'm pretty sure that I didn't use screen flashes for any system events or anything. Mostly just the events and scenes that I wrote up there.

Okay, thank you Muraiko in the future use a flash sheild system wich i'll post here:

First make an event at the begining of your game that does this:
Dissplay a you measage that says Do you want to turn on the flash sheild?
[Show choices Yes/no]
now make a common event that goes like this
Trigger condtion:Flash Sheild is on
Conditional Branch if switch Flash Sheild is on
<>Hide screen use default

<>Else put nothing here.

That's a good idea! A Flash Shield! I'll go and input all that in today, and block off all the flashes from scenes and systems. You can expect a new update (again) demo for you by tomorrow! So please don't download or play this one! Just wait patiently! I'll post again once I have changed the link.

But for everyone else, I'll leave this link up, so you can download and play it still.

Okay! I just changed the link up on my other post, so now it's the "Flash Shield" one.
At the begining of the game, it'll explain what flash shield is, and ask you if you want to turn it on.

Turning it off will allow all flashy, fancy, effects to take place. Everything from scenes, to battle transitions.

Turning it on will diable all flashes. So flashy scenes will now be "flashless". And also, when you go into battle, it won't flash, and it won't show that big spining white star picture. I don't know if big, fast, moving pictures can be considered a flash, but I didn't want to take chances. Besides, on some computers, like my laptop, it tends to flash anyway, just because the picture is too fast for my screen to keep it. None the less, I took it off if you turn flash shield on. So when you touch an enemy, you'll get teleported right away to the battle field, and begin fighting, while some other people who left flash shield off, will have to waste their time watching a star spin for about 2.5 seconds.

Anyway, now I hope everyone will be able to play my game! Please enjoy!

Thanks Muraiko,i'm going to download it now!I'm glad you lisstened to me
it shows you're a good game deissgner.Rember to instal a Flash Sheild in future games too.
I'm working on that tut,by the way forgot to tell you have to Hide the screen and then show it
again when the flash is over. But it looks like you've found a better way to do it,so PM
with it or post it in the tutorials section.

Well, basically, at the begining, if you said you wanted to turn flash sheild on, then I just fliped the switch, Flash Shield, on. And then, before any flashes in my game occurs, I put in the conditional branch, if switch flash shield is off, then it shows it. So if it was on, then it'll skip the branch all together, and go straight to the next part. It's basically as simple as that. The only hard part is remembering to put in the branch for every single flash later in the game. But that's about it.

Link it to a common event and put that common event in every map buy copying and pasting.
I'll work on writing this up in tutorial form tonight affter i examine your shooting system.
Might cheat my way there the first tme,but i'll start a new game affter i do.
