One thing that urks me about most games, is lack of character development. That's probably why I love FFVI so much. Expect a good story for every character.

THE CHARACTERS:

Name: Marcus Aurelius Kevaulx (Pronounced: Mark'-us Uh-rail'-ee-us Kay-vall')
Importance: Main Character
Weapon Specialty: If it has a blade of some sort, he can use it.
Trademark Weapon: Vervepact (The Vervepact is actually a large story driver for this)
Background:
Note: Named after the last of Rome's five great emperors

Name: Grif (Full name is being discussed)
Importance: Main Character
Weapon Specialty:
Trademark Weapon:

Name: Angela (Full name is being discussed)
Importance: Main Character
Weapon Specialty: Polearms, spears, ect
Trademark Weapon:

Name: Alexander Itrania (Ee-tran'-ee-uh)
Importance: NPC, might possibly become a playable character
Weapon Specialty:
Trademark Weapon:
Background:
Note: Alexander is the founder of the Itranian Isle. The isle itself is a large story driver.

*And more*
There is a fine line between an active battle system and a normal one. Fortunately, I found that line. I will elaborate more when I finish working out some kinks in the system.

Anachro (for you literately savvy people) is short for Anachronism. An Anachronism is where something in a story is out of its proper place in time. Anachro takes place in a future setting in a world that seems pretty stable, but is a political mine field. Tensions between the three controlling nations are getting worse and worse. One of the rulers of a lesser nation had a dream about a future where the world’s nations have all been usurped of their power. The planet itself was dying under the gaze of an omnipotent dictator.

Among the death and decay, he saw a small light emanating from an island in the middle of the sea. Upon that island was a city that resembled those that should populate the planet instead of the darkness. An army sprang forth from the island and covered the planet in light, led by three people, one of whom carried a sword with a light shining forth from it that was bright that all the others. Alexander was behind this man with his hand on his shoulder before fading away.

Once he awoke from the dream Alexander set to work on creating this army. It was a double benefit for him. Not only would it be useful if the dream came true, but it also could be easily disguised as his own nation’s building of military power for self defense in case of war, for his nation was lacking an army. Thus the Itranian Isle was born. A military academy like no other under the watchful eye of its caring leader, Alexander, it became world renowned as the most elite and prestigious school in the world.

Alexander was selective about the entrants, choosing only young children and righteous older people. Those enrolled on the Itranian Isle became the best of fighters with their own area of expertise, from traditional blades to guns to magic. Those on the outside might think that sending little kids to a military establishment in their youth to be trained as soldiers was cruel, but this was not true. They had a great life on the island and were raised with weapons more of as a hobby rather than as soldiers.

This separation of pleasure fighting from military fighting made the students feel more at ease, and thus learn easier while maintaining their innocence in special battles in which none would receive injury. Sadly, this would not make then anywhere close to real army. Those of the age of 14 and over were the ones who received the real military training. They were taught tactics and competed in real battles, and well as the “special” secrets behind their weapons.

Many people never finished questioning Alexander’s actions: Why did he found the academy? Why only the innocent and righteous? He was always peace loving, why build an army now? Alexander never told a single soul about his dream… Until…

One person who graduated from the Itranian Isle was one of the first graduates. He got married and had a son after graduating. He then enrolled in his son in the academy. His son was particularly feisty. He kept staying up after hours and occasionally pilfered stuff from other students. Just because he wasn’t a particularly nice boy who only got enrolled because his dad was an alumni doesn’t mean that he wasn’t a hard worker. He wasn’t quite at the greatest student when it came to grades, but thinks he did like were blades and fiction books. While he liked to use anything bladed, he favored the swords over others.

That said, he’s not the first student like this, so here the game starts. The player takes control of Marcus when he’s 9 years old. During this time, the player will go through a basic combat tutorial and fight a couple of the other students. At the end of this time frame, Marcus is awoken in the middle of the night in a cold sweat (though you won’t find out why until later) and goes outside to cool off. He is staying in a hut along with several others near the edge of a cliff, so he walks up the rest of the distance and stands at the edge of the cliff.

A black shadow passes over the full moon off in the distance and heads toward the island. It crashes in a forest not too far off from where Marcus was standing. He runs down to the crash site to find a strange bird-like creature crashed into the earth. He is immediately attacked by it, but he came unarmed. You are then put into a fight where you learn some more basic battle maneuvers that don’t require a weapon.

After a timer is up, he finds a strange sword stabbed into the ground around the parameter of the area you were fighting in. With no regards for ownership, Marcus wields the weapon as his own against the monster. This is the first boss fight in the game. While you win the fight, the creature somehow gets up after being defeated, but Marcus is too tired to keep fighting. Just when it’s about to kill Marcus, there is a low hum in the distance that gradually grows louder. Something that looks like a bright white arrow flies by and strikes the creature, knocking him into a tree and out for good.

Out from the trees comes Alexander clad in a different suit than he normally donned. “That sword…” He walked over and examined the blade that Marcus had happened upon. “It can’t be that-,“ he was cut off by Marcus.

“That was so cool Mr. Director! Can you do it again?” Marcus was obviously ignoring how tired he was and just wanted to see the attack again.

“Marcus, right? Please, just call me Alexander. There’s no need to be formal at this point. Come, walk with me.” They then walked back up the cliff to see the moon. The screen then fades to black.
“Ok, there’s something I want to teach you.”
“Why teach ME something?”
“Because… I’ll tell you when you’re older, but you need that sword.”
“Um… Ok?”
“You may not use this move until it’s needed, and no sooner.”
“This sounds like some poorly written story from one of my books…”

*Thus ends the boring part of the story*

Several Playable Characters
A custom deviation from the basic RPG system
Characters and story will have depth
What's a straight line plot? There's no straight line plot here. Infact, there will be multiple ways to get from point A to B in the story.
A very original way of progressing through the story
Play in the three spots in time, with the game starting with the hero, Marcus, at age 9 for the start of the game, age 14-15 ish for a large portion of the game, and 18-20 ish at the end.
*And more*

I plan on having a Flashback Mode available during the game and an Arena Mode unlocked later on.
Flashback Mode will be accessible anytime via the save menu. Once there, you can rewatch cutscenes or refight bosses at your current strength for no benefits.

Arena Mode will be unlocked at a later time and will be available in towns. You can refight enemies and bosses to your heart's content at whatever strength you want to with no benefits or repercussions from winning or losing.
*And of course, more*
Well wait 48 hours at most and you'll be satisfied, heck, it might be done within three hours.

Edit: Events leading up to the story have been posted, stay tuned for more.

Edit 2: The small portion of the game where you take control of Marcus while he's 9 years old is now up.
