Star Trek Quicksilver
« on: January 17, 2009, 02:17:28 AM »
(The previous post waz replaced)
Thanks Fruck!
I wanted to have a simple style graphic, so that my face sets could look very different. Emotions and Tone of the dialog will come out in face picture form.

Still not sure on all the systems. Still going to be implementing the ABS for spaceship battles as the captain, but use it for a more cinematic feel rather than game play,\; so you wont be in a lot of space battles, only when
it's Germain to the scenario to be. Character to Character phaser fighting will happen more often, I'm not sure if this is going to be a new TBS, ABS or just a highly customized DBS. If people had any ideas on which set up would help the idea of phasers fights (Straight line from character to target battle animation), phaser Rifles (Object fly from character to target)

Wow... never mind. While I was writing that I just thought of the best way to do it.

THE STORY
You are First Officer 'Fay Grim' (I just watched that movie. It was weird but kind of okay.) on board a science vessel, the USS quicksilver.

THE FIRST OFFICER
Your duties include but are not limited to;

-Helping  the Other departments with their assignments,
-Leading away missions.
-Engaging in combat.
-Commanding the C Shift on Bridge.
-Taking time off duty (Holodecks, Mess hall)

COMBAT
Combat consists of your party and a level. (Dungeon) maybe on an enemy ship or in the holodeck ect. and they move from vantage points, set up triage units (If you have medical teams) Operate consoles, energy conduits, doors, if they are engineers. Gather data and relay it to you if you have at least one science officer. Security personelle will fire phasers, and once a unit finishes what it is told, or when the phaser finished charging, you get to tell  them what to do next.

THE PARTY
Mission team of up to: 8 people
You choose the department that comes but the captain chooses exactly what character. They have 2 skill slots, but those 2 skills can be up to any number. Say: Medical lvl: 2  and Engineering lvl: 4
This system will be considered A(ctive)T(acticalBS but its not exactly.

I'll post more info and battle and face pictures soon.

I find the photo faceset/cut in thingy to just be ugly. In my opinion, you should try and get some real pixel facesets. Photos+Pixel always looks bad.

Looks very promising. How many explorable planets are you going for? And how big would they be on average?

between 11 and 12 re visitable, Depending on your away team members Science level, each time you go down with a higher level the more things you will find. There are also going to be some other planets to explore but those ones will be detected while in warp, and you won't be able to go back to them, Along with ... un...re discoverable planets there will also be delapidated ships, and anomolys. Ya know, all the stuff that makes the series so exciting :)

Spaceship battles will be a CBS, your department heads will relay information to the captain, and you as the captain must decide what to do next. This screen will illustrat what I mean, but will probably look different when I actually program it.

Looks good. You shouyld also add a screen to show what ships are on the long range radar. What about manuvering to avoid fire?

Ive spend so much time on facesets and I just decided after thinking that I'm not going to use them. Instead of character sets I ay just use Emoticon Battle animations above characters heads with a quick white flash of the sprite when they talk. The reason is, If there's phaser fire going on in the hall way my chief of security isn't going to be smiling when she reports that she's been hit...

1. The ships will not be shown unless its part of the mission (as in a small movie) ships that you fight normally will be reported by your crew, so you wont actually see them.

2. As for helm being able to avoid... I may be able to work something into it. Captains have asked for evasive maneuvers... I'm not sure about it though.

Ive just amped up the STQS game. I'm custom making all the maps and charactersets instead of just editing them,
This will allow me to make the game the way I originally intended it. Yes characters are smaller but 20+ will have *better quality* face sets

I'll post some screens now, and explain them all later and about what kind of game its going to be.
