Hate yourself

When you make a game, do you end up hating it after a while and thinking the music's rubbish?
I keep tweaking things in my game to make them better, but I'm wondering if it's already fine and
I'm just so sick of hearing the same music and seeing the same sites that I purposefully tweak
everything over and over. I haven't used RPG Maker for a few weeks and when I came back to my game for
a little test-run, I found it really fun and I was really proud of my work (not in a showoff way).

It's weird. I don't know if my games are crap or what. Anyone else feel the same with their games?

Every artist gets sick of their own work. But yeah, I've gone through that same exact cycle too.

People are always much more critical on their own work, it's natural. So if it exceeds your own standards, chances are it'll at least meet everyone else; so don't give up.

I think everyone gets a bit tired of their own game. I mean, test playing something you've made over and over can get kinda old... (I've played my own game from begining to where I last made stuff like... twelve times...)

Believe it or not, I'm actually starting to find DBS and RTP games very fun, just because I'm sick of my ABS and stuff. But just keep in mind that your game will still be a new experience to others, which is the purpose of being "unique" or "sticking out" in the first place.

The most important thing is to be happy with your own game...

It sounds to me like you're a prefectionist, which a lot of people here are as well (me... for example), so you just spot little flaws and change them from time to time.

I don't really think this is bad at all... sure it reduces the production rate of the game, but meh.

I opened up Patchwork Engine, then looked at the code for the chests, and thought to myself "WTF was I thinking?"

It made me a little bit sad

Hate everything you ever do. That way, when others don't like it, you can tell them that you've been not liking it since before it was cool.
