It looked like, instead of the Pikachu turning into a laser, some red goop came out of the Pokeball and enveloped it.

Also, your comic is better than Scott Ramsoomair's Pokemon comic.

The blacked-out thing (or "whited-out," as some later versions used...for racial diversity I guess) always baffled me, too. Does some good samaritan find your unconscious body and drag you to the Pokemon Center (instead of, y'know, a real hospital for humans), presumably after having his way with you?
