There could be a page about all the Moderators and Administrators that were on Charas explaining all the work they did and how they've helped improving Charas, I don't know... but they should be demoted.
Sounds to me like we may need to update the wiki a bunch

the best part about this is.....if this all were to go through, in a few months you would all start a campaign to complain about the mods being too strict about archiving threads.

Actually, I would probably not complain. I'm probably one of the few, if not the only one who never complained about the Mods being too strict. Even when carmen and GhostClown were modding.

I'm all for archiving. I haven't deleted a file off my computer since I got it.
I was even pissed that one time Sai'Kar deleted his threads for some reason.

He was emo and wanted to disappear from histooooory! *echos*

Also, we can't demote those people because Alex asked us not too and that was one of his wishes we must respect!

I agree with keeping the honoured mods the way they are. What if you helped build a forum and then came back, 8 years later, to find yourself powerless and forgotten on your own site?

I agree with the archive thing, although I don't want threads to disappear after a week or even a month. I reckon we should have a one year automatic junk. All topics are automatically moved to the junk bin after one year. (That is, if this forum's technology allows that to be achieved easily.) That'd mean that truly ancient dusty threads are locked away but all the threads you remember from the last few months would still be there. I'd hate charas to become the sort of place where you come back to your thread after a month's inactivity or something and find that it's already been moved...

Well, if I left a forum for 8 years, I'd expect to be demoted.
But if they were to be demoted, there could be some pages somewhere on Charas talking about what they did to help the forum. Honestly, I don't even know what they did for Charas, and seeing them as Mods still don't give me any clues about their work. However, if there was to be articles about them, I could actually learn how they helped Charas development.

But well, if it was Alex's wish to leave them as Mods, I guess we should leave them as Mods.

They basically helped build the site from stratch and were the first staff evah who forced Alex to become the admin of charas... or something like that.

MT, it can be done, but I dont think we should do that. Donno, some threads are still useful after one year withouth posting and locking them would make them go away, like, tutorials and stuff.
What about excluding stickys?

The "old forgotten" mods have no power anyways. Dont get your panties in a knot. They deserve a staff spot, because they are development staff. They have no power to come back and baleet your naruto fan sprites, or the shitty midi you made for redarrow316. Shut up, the owner of the site wants them to be staff...so they shall remain staff.

If they deserved to not be staff for any reason, they wouldnt be. Plain and simple. This is proven by my status. I was an inactive admin, and i came back and laid the banhammer on a new member for breaking rules. And was demoted for it.

Id say six months of dormacy would be sufficient for archiving.
Id say keep it unlocked in the archive for an additional 6 months or so before permalocking.
Id say it would be wise to start a thread for petitions. Like "Somebody archive this....its epic" "This archived thread deserves to be in the junk bin, not the archives" or "Can we unlock this archived thread" etc.

but then again......Im no admin

I've sent a PM to Alex regarding the inactive Mods and also talked about a "Charas Memorials" in which we would have articles talking about past and current Moderators and Administrators, like what they did for the forum and such.

First, I'd like to mention his approval concerning the Demoting of inactive Mods.
----------
"Yes, in past i asked to keep them as Moderators.
But it's also true Charas changed a lot since those "ancient" times.

On my side, it's around 2 years i have no direct contacts with them as well.
So, at this point, also demoting should be done without regrets, i think.
They are part of Charas history, so a "Charas Memorials" is surealy a better place to remember them, now."
----------

Second, as you can see, he also agrees with a "Charas Memorials"

However, although I've got a "yes" from Alex, I need the opinion of the community. So far, I've got three "no", but two of them mentions Alex's wish for them to remain Mods, which now changed.
So, do you agree with the demoting of the inactive Moderators?
The reasons:
-It makes the Moderation team seems more inactive than it actually is
-It could be confusing for new comers, to think they are still active
-Having inactive Moderators is just pointless

Concerning the "Charas Memorials", we would need people to actually work on this, because personally, I don't know much about past Moderators. We would also need an actual name, unless you think Charas Memorials is fine.
But then again, I need the opinion of the community.
Would you agree with a Charas Memorials? In this, we would talk about past and present Moderators, like how they helped, when they became Mods, how long they stayed, etc. However, as I mentioned, we'd need people to work on it, people who knows enough about past Moderators.
The reasons:
-Learn more about Charas History
-You will actually know who the past Moderators were, and what they did. Them being staff doesn't explain much. Well, not at all...

Let's clean the place a bit. The useless boards and inactive Mods. We can't always go "Oh they don't bother anyone, let them be"

The memorials sound like a good idea

I won't be able to help much, because I think I'm the newest consistently active member, and thus have only seen a small part of Charas history, but it does sound like it'd be a good move
