First Post Requesters
« on: February 27, 2009, 09:57:29 PM »
We've been having lots of those lately. I think it could be solved just by making it so anyone with under 5 (or at least 1) posts cant start a new thread on the request area. Cant see anything bad that would happen if we did that. Even if we didn't let them make new threads, they would still be able to post on existing threads, to answer requests or whatever.

And it would take less than 5 minutes for an admin to do.

Meh. Nothing's wrong with first-post-requesters. I've even seen them answered once or twice. If people feel like doing something for them, they can do it. If not, it doesn't hurt to just ignore them. This rule would only increase the amount of meaningless posts from would-be first-post-requesters.

If they ask nicely, and then actually stick around for awhile, it's not as bad
Although that's sadly kind of rare, right now

I don't see the point. Why should we force people to hang around if all they want is a simple request fulfilled?

There's no rule against requesting on a first post. It's just a guideline we give to those posters so they don't waste their time making a request that nobody will want to do.

Personnally, I don't mind first post requesters. Not even 10 first posts requesters.
As long as it's not some shame-to-humanity guy who bitch people trying to help them.
Especially if they're like "So what if I insulted you? It's been a whole 2 hours I've insulted all of you, get over it and help me, retards."

If they just want us to be their slaves for 5 minutes then leave forever...

Slaves? We're making sprites/resources, not polishing their boots.

If they just want us to be their slaves for 5 minutes then leave forever... Hey, we are better off without them.

The analogy isn't really appropriate. They're not forcing us into anything. If someone fulfills a request, it's because they wanted to.

At the end of the day, it's down to what people are willing to do. Sure, it gets annoying when people come here and expects people to do things for them, but if a newbie arrives and asks nicely, and a member feels like fulfilling the request, there's nothing stopping them.

Locked at request of original poster. Ka-chunk.
