You have no idea how much I wish I could have put more guitar in it. But for now it's going to have to wait, since my guitar is dead.

Also, I am fully aware of how cheesy the virtual instruments sound. It's the best I can do though, until I get Pro Logic or something.

I dunno, I rather like the idea behind the beat. And I'm VERY picky.

I sat down and recorded 6 songs one day when I was bored. These are the ones I think came out the best.

Isotropic
Chiapas
Danglefoot

If you're interested in hearing the rest, I'll post them.

Hm... your strings sound a bit loose. Sounds like your trying to do something folksy. Not really my thing. The last one I'm not sure on. There is a lot of "twang". Makes it sound folksy too.

I wasn't really trying for anything in particular, but I see what you're saying. I didn't have access to a working electric guitar when I recorded those either, so my acoustic was the only thing I could use.

But yeah, I hear the folksiness. Which is apparently a word.

Isotropic sounds a bit chaotic and disharmonious. It has a few good things working for it, but the overall execution is flawed. Chiapas has issues with the parts all being properly in time, but there's a lot of quality found within the walls of this tune. Definitely my favorite of this batch. Danglefoot has an excellent chill factor to it. This is something any good progressive band needs. I like it quite a bit, but it lacks a little bit of flare. Just a little something to really make it stand out can push it from a good track into a great track.

And yes, I want the other tracks. Why wouldn't I?

Also, raws of them would be appreciated. I want to see how I can mix them for massive damage.

Nebular
Soundscaping
Eleven Times Over

There are the rest.

Also, what do you mean by raws? The recorded parts individually, or something?

Yes.

Nebular has a very awesome, eerie quality to it. Reminds me of Mastodon quite a bit. Soundscaping has a repetitive sound that makes it good for, say, background music in some other form of entertainment media, but lacks strong enough features to really stand on its own as a quality song. Don't get me wrong, I like it quite a bit, but it's like it takes off from the airport, circles the runway for a couple of hours, and lands. In other words, it gets off the ground, but it doesn't really go anywhere. Eleven Times Over really defines improvisation, but in a bit of a bad way. There's a lot of sound that really doesn't mesh together well, but individually, each part brings something interesting to the table.

Like I said, those were the ones I wasn't as happy with.

I'll upload the raws tomorrow when I'm not lazy.

Yeah, I understood that you weren't happy with them, but I wanted to hear them anyways. I think they just need a little bit of work and quality mixing, and they can be good stuff.

wqegr sounds like Metallica meets Pink Floyd. I could hear vocals though in it. Like an actual singer. When the instruments stop and such it would be cool to have a nice singer come in and just do some words... I dunno though...

The piano parts in the whaleman are awesome, and those swooshy-sounds sound like Muse (awesome).

Isotropic just doesn't sound like it's one song. It sounds like 2 different songs being played on top of each other.  Meaning the Rhythm and Lead don't sound right together...

Right away Chiapas is a cool riff, a lot of fun. There are some timing issues and such. Again, I think vocals would add a LOT to this song.

Nebular is a cool creepy riff as Archem said, but it reminds me a bit more of Slayer (think seasons in the abyss or south of heaven)

Soundscape started really cool... then became unlistenably off-key

Danglefoot is just repetitive. A nice sound, but it just becomes bland quickly...

Eleven times over... I just couldn't get into it. It sounds disjointed, and disconnected. Also, it just has nothing that grabbed my attention really...

Overall, they're mostly not bad. You're an excellent guitarist (better than I am) but I think a lot of them would benefit from having a vocalist.

Might be a really BAD idea. More often than not does a singer with a terrible voice ruin a song. So the singer has to be at least fairly good, and if he tones out, it's ruined.

Well, yea, I'm talking about a good singer here, not a shitty one.

That's also true, depending on perspective.

But I'm also not really a fan of instrumental music, so I'm probably a bit biased.
