Malware sites
« on: May 10, 2009, 04:33:10 PM »
Not that I am actually worried about getting anything; but it's impossible to deny that there are a lot of obvious Malware sites out there, most of which advertise "warez" and shenanigans like that. I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about here. My question is, who actually OWNS and RUNS these sites that are dedicated to misleading you and infesting your computers?

My money is placed on Anti-Virus companies; every time a friend has a pop-up problem caused by malware, it's always advertising a program to get rid of said malware.

Ppl with too much free time? The programs are usually fakes trying to have you download another virus...

Most, if not all, malware these days is in it for profit. Passwords and credit card information are actually fairly easy to get. Back in the day, viruses may have been more of a bragging rights thing than anything else, but nowadays there are some pretty lucrative offers for programmers willing to ignore ethics for some quick money.

Pretty much a person's own fault if they put info like that on a computer.
