I haven't been a fan of Disney stuff since about when I turned 5 years old (honestly I find anyone that's Disney-obsessed over the age of about 14 and that doesn't have children a little creepy) but DAYUM does some of that concept art look awesome. I think I'll pick this one up.

New GameInformer story.
Chronicling the older adventures of Mickey, giving rise to a lot of older cartoons that kind of help you imagine what's going to happen in Epic.

I think this may well be the weirdest game idea I've ever seen.

I can't shake off the Disneyness. If it had an all original setting, and all original characters, it might be easier for me to embrace it. As of right now, I can't see past the ridiculousness of it.
If it had all original characters, it wouldn't be NEARLY as interesting.
No, this has decades and decades of backstory.

So, some screenshots are released.
I thought that it didn't quite look up until I saw the zombie Donald.

Ummmm...

Well.  If you smack Donald, does he leak oil?

IMO, the 3d Zombie Donald is horrible.

the sketch of him is creepy enough to be cool though.

He appears to be some sort of robo-Donald.

Don't know why you people keep calling him a zombie.

I think it's due to pieces missing from the outer shelling showing the internal gears and whatever, giving a kind of undead-ish quality.

I thought it gave him a look of incompletion or disrepair.

Whatever. I seem to have a more accurate imagination. Not better, more accurate.

Actually I haven't been too impressed with what I'm hearing about the game game. It seems to be a platformer where you have to paint/erase parts of the levels to get through. That sort of mechanic is sort of interesting, but it hardly seems epic enough for all this awesome art that's been coming out.

You realize that there's a difference between ideas on paper and ideas in practice, yes? There are so many cases where the two don't match up, and one end up being so much better than the other. Here's an example (but in reverse): Bethesda's general fare of games, the Elder Scrolls series, primarily. The best way of describing the games is "An MMORPG, but completely remove the multiplayer aspect". Sounds horrible, and doomed to fail. However, the series is hugely popular, and they've continued to show off the success with Fallout 3.

It goes both ways, you see. However, the point I'm trying to make is that we'll have to wait and see how they do.
