I could cry!!!! (In a good way)
« on: May 13, 2012, 02:23:49 PM »
Right, so I'm not sure who's played Terraria here. I know there's a few people who played it to death like me! So, to
all fans of Terraria, I have unbelievable news:

They're making a new game (Starbound), following the exact same formula, but set in space and with 50x more awesomeness!!!!!
I'm just hoping this doesn't co-inside with exams, because then I'm pretty much f&(*ed!

Terraria's really nothing like MC. People definitely owe it to themselves to play both! Terraria has an endgame and so much content until that
point, whilst MC is more slow-paced and less action/character-oriented, but offers almost infinite replayability.

Yeah, the two are only the same on the surface, but are drastically different once you dig beneath the surface. Uh, puns.

And also, if Terraria and Minecraft had a baby, it would be Jesus.

Pretty old news by this point!
Also, Redigit, the coder/creator of Terraria, isn't involved, as far as I can tell. It's Tiy, the artist's baby.

Oh, I so agree, man... wish they did. A 3D Terraria would be awesome.

I'd say, I kinda preferred Terraria for the bosses, unbreakable stuff, enchants, NPC's, accessories, etc. but I preferred Minecraft's 3D, as it makes building stuff more interesting.
One thing I hate is how you need a new map for every new updates on Minecraft, though...

Not so much, as the fact that it was 2D made me a little less interested in building stuff in Terraria, I've mainly done the "adventure" part.
I really meant Minecraft. Like... I had maps with nice things built but I'd have to dump it if I wanted the new content, like jungles and ocelot.

Oh yeah and sucks that Terraria won't receive any more updates, though that's also old news.

I'm pretty much certain that it's the opposite. New biomes and stuff would require a brand new world in Terraria, but Minecraft would integrate new stuff into undiscovered chunks, meaning that the world evolves with you.

Jungles did require a new map, though.
But the thing is that starting a new map in Terraria is fine since you keep everything on your character. In Minecraft, starting over means starting everything over, which sucks.

multiplayer T was fun. Downloaded some characters that had max equips and just went around having fun with a bunch of my friends. Then never touched the game again.

Not true at all. My group found one. We just had to cross an ocean, and bam. Jungle. As long as the chunk is unexplored, it's a candidate for new biomes.

The only time you absolutely had to make a new map was with the Adventure Update, due to the changes in world generation...it could cause some really funky errors.
