Anyone know a good place for free website hosting?

Sorry about the dumb topic, but I was wondering if y'all had advice/experience.  Google provides lots of options for free website hosting but I wanted to know what the best/easiest/safest one was.

I need to make a new portfolio and also just get into making websites in general.
