I suddenly really like you. Good mapping, a game with some attempt at innovation, and an apparent attempt to not take the game too seriously. There's little I disagree with.

PS. I love you :)

Special symbols in the status effects on the battle screen? That's brilliant! Why didn't I think of that?!

Anyone who uses Bunchie the Llama as a monster in a video game is a cool guy in my book, especially when the monster is named "Drama Llama".

Aw, thanks guys.

Seven years later and I'm still tinkering away at it when the mood strikes. I guess it's my life's work?

Hey, Archdeco!

Now that is dedication.  When it is done, may I play it?

I honestly don't know how much enjoyment someone would get out of it if they didn't get at least some of the inside humor.

I don't mean to imply that I've been working on it the entire seven years. Or that I've even gotten far since the time I started this thread. But something about it keeps me from abandoning it. It takes up a lot of space in my mind palace.

So that's one city out of... sixish the game will have. This one's close to being the biggest one, but the main thing to take away is that every NPC is named, and based on a real person. They don't all have lines yet but that will involve a lot of research into old posts, as well as fleshing out some more of the "fanfiction based on a bunch of old forums" world building I've got going.

I really love the detail you put in this.  Also, even for someone does not get the inside humor, I do appreciate the references to other games that you have scattered inside this game.  The only thing that bothers me is the transitions used when entering the buildings.  I guess I am use to that one being used for battle though.  Other than that, I would love to give this game a try.

That's dedication to a forum. Are some of the people you reference still around to play it or is this purely for yourself at this point?

The transitions are a holdout from waaaaay back, and you're right, I'll change them.

Still kicking! In a discord. Not to the level you're seeing in that video but I'll see maybe 30 people online from the old days in my channel on a good day?

Here's a story I don't mind telling; Steve Goodson, the Sax Gourmet? That's a real person. Semi-famous in the nawlins area as a saxophone entrepreneur and infamous for getting away with fraud. Switching out peoples' instruments for inferior ones and then selling the good ones, price gouging, that sort of thing. All came to a head in a big forum war in the far off year of 2000. Guy still operates but now at least there's info out on the web of his fraudulent activities.

One of the people that spearheaded the campaign against him was a guy named Dijaldi, the one with the turban behind the bar. He's not alive anymore, but there's room in this game for him to do something heroic, I would think.

I really appreciate this site. This whole time it's never left my bookmarks bar. Between the generators and the resource repository you've been downright necessary. You're the best source for 2k3 materials on the net short of downloading other peoples' games and stripping them for parts like a chop shop. Which I have also done.

I don't suppose you guys have a discord?

The timestamps on these videos show just how slowly I work and how much I linger on seemingly small details.
