Ok.
I created the admin panel.
Now.... here's how i think to proceed.

I sent the access data PM to DarkFox,woundedgoat,GhostClown212,Shady Ultima.
I think 4 users is surely enough to guarantee someone will check new submissions in reasonable times.

The first things to do are:
1) find and delete doubles, leaving the oldest one
2) find and delete generated resources
3) find and correct uncredited resources, rips, etc.
Consider that a resources may be credited only at a registered member: if the original author is not one, better to delete the resource to avoid troubles or ask the author to register.

I ask to Revolution911,ES2005,SnakeIzeGambit and Blitz Ace to help for this, because these first steps may be a little time consuming.
You may check resources and signal them here if you find something wrong.
Also, any user who wants to signal something to the upload team may write here as well.

If there are any questions, post here or send me a PM.

Thanks to everyone!!!

Okay Alex, just to make sure I understand correctly you want us to:

A) Delete Doubles and keeping the oldest submission (can't really misunderstand that one, but I'll be thourough).

B) Disallow/Delete generated resources (also easy to understand).

C) Fix resource text for uncredited ones and indicate rips/compliations if nessecary.

D)

This is the one I'm not sure of.  You want us to only allow resources created by those who are part of Charas or if they are not, ask them to register (where I'm assuming if they refuse the resource is to be removed)?

Now I have a couple of questions:

First off, concerning double posted resurces.  Let us say that a first resources (a rip most likly) is submitted and is uploaded.  Then let's say the some one else submits another version of the same resource only that it is of a higher quality or more complete then the previous (EG, proper colors or size, better resolution etc).  What would you like us to do in such a case?  In my opinion, this is a valid reason for submitting a resource that has already been uploaded.

Second, resources that are made with the generator but have been editted to a degree (EG, not just a recolor or a few pixel changes here and there).  Should these be kept or discarded?

That's all for now.  I will start sifting through the resources now, only changing what I'm sure you want done.

Edit:  Just in case someone else decides to start on this as well, I'm starting in System2.  Why, you may ask?  A) because it's the last one and B) because the first one is Charasets and I really don't feel like having to go through that without any sleep.  Cheers.

Exactly.
The "author" field retrieve names and ids from the forum users database.
So, if "Spikey" is not a registered member you cannot assign "Spikey" as resource's author.
This way we will be able to check better things, just because we will be sure who to ask in case of troubles.
If a "truly suspect" author will not reply within some days about his submission (3-4 days should be enough), delete the suspect resource.

True, but this probaby means the resource is not original.
So keep the one that gives proper credits at least in description, if possible. If not... fire! ;)
I meant keeping the oldest one in case of identical resources.

Kept, if it's not possible to recreate the resource with the generator or with some simple editing over generated resources.
Anyhow, if it's clear it was edited from a generated resource, better to write it in the description using a standard forumla (eg, [edit on charas resource]). This will help also using the serch utlity, which looks for matches in author names, resources names and descriptions.

It's a good idea to tell here what you plan to do.
Having more ppls working over the same resource may cause troubles, in some rare circumstances.

Okay I'm really tired and getting dumb, but I have to ask, are we allowing outside resources at all?  The biggest example that jumps to mind is that there's quite a bit of stuff from RM2K3.com.

Edit: As a side note, I also did some work in the BattleWeapons section.  Neither is done yet though.  Sleepy time.

Check out  marcosjayala. He's got a charaset called My Animals, and It's got a lot of resources not possibly made by him. Also check out the rest of his work. Hope this helps.

With All Due Respect,
ES2005

EDIT: He's got A game over called "Final Fantasy 8". I'm not sure if it's the final fantasy 8 game over, because I never played FF8, but he says "give me credit if you use it". If it was the FF8 game over, I'd credit FF8, wouldn't you? Something to check into.

Well, if the resources are in RM2K3.com, then leave them in RM2K3.com, if it wasn't the author that submits them to us too.

P.S.: thank you for alerting, ES2005!

When you send resources, they're not immediatly visible in Charas.
They will be visible only in the Team admin panel and, from there, they will check/edit/upload it

Please separate resources
« Reply #25 on: May 28, 2004, 08:20:19 PM »
Please, if you can, keep the ripped resources separate from the original resources.  I have thought for some time that the resources section needs more organization, and this is a start.  For example, when I'm hunting down faces for my games, I don't want to go through pages of faces from Final Fantasy and other games before I get to original faces.

I also think it would be really nice if the sprites and faces were put in categories (men, women, kids, animals, monsters)--though if that's too much work, just ignore that suggestion (for now).  I'd love to be able to look through a small section of animal faces/sprites, realize that, say, a gorilla or a peacock is not there, and then go request it on the forum; but if I have to wade through a huge section of mixed resources I may never know if it's there or not.  I don't want to go request resources that are already available, because it wastes spriters' time.

Anyhoo... Keep up the good work!

I have a website now! Currently just points at my fanfics (over 230 works, totaling over 750,000 words, mostly in Marvel and Person of Interest and now Lackadaisy too). YouTube channel on hiatus but I hope to eventually recreate "A Fugitive in Stardew Valley" now that I know how to mod the game.

Ok, Alex, I read your post, considering my role, I'll keep my eyes open and see if I find anything strange.
