BattleChar Generator News
« on: April 25, 2003, 04:49:13 PM »
Okay, folks, v1.0.7 is ready to upload, but my school has a nasty firewall, so I can't upload it from here. After school I'm going spelunking and won't be back until tomorrow night. I'll upload it as soon as I return. But keep in mind, we can't actually start making BattleChars without resources! Also, I haven't translated the program into any other languages yet. I'll be doing Spanish next (because that won't take long), but I still need somebody to help translate to German.

Okay, sorry the BattleCharGen's still not up yet, but it turned out that I went straight from spelunking to a friend's house to church. Now, I'm waiting for someone to send me the install files from the school lab so I can upload them. Maybe tonight, if not, probably not until Wednesday. So sorry! At least the program will be better by then! Once again, we need resources!

BattleChatGen Details

The BattleCharGen is an offline program that uses .BMP resources that you will be able to download from this site (once Alex and I hammer out hosting details, you may also be able to download updates from here, too). The program currently takes a body resource, a face resource, a hair resource, a clothes resource, and one etc. resource and combines them to create a final battlechar. I will probably add a multiple etc. resource capability, but that may severly damage run-time speed. The program shows a full preview along with an animated preview that lets you view each part of your battlechar in motion, with adjustable speed. Also, as a feature creature, you can set the hair to be shown behind or in front of the clothes (useful for long hair and hooded clothing).

>.BMP resources

BMPs are big. What language do you use.

Look in the additionals-directory of my charas.ex. There you find the freeimage.dll+documention and so you can use Gif, PNG, etc.

Hate to break it to everybody, but we'll be waiting till Wednesday for the BCG. Sorry. But really, everyone, it's looking sweet. I'll upload some screen shots 8th period (I think that's 2:35 to 3:20).

Some tip:
First finish the programm, then publish it.

If you do it in the other way, you get problems, when you don't can hold the release-day.

I hate persons, who say:
"Hey i do this, this and this."
"ok, i have found some troubles, but this and this is possible."
"Finaly i cancel the project."

So please finish your programm first, then publish it.

The program is finished, its just a matter of getting around the firewall to upload it. In the meantime, I'll post screenshots!
