He doesn't pay for the forums, but the space that it uses. So, when ever you attach a file, it saves to his server, and that takes up space. Not very much, but if you add all of the attached files togother, then that's quite large. And the more bandwidth used the more Alex has to upgrade his account to make the bandwidth space larger. (bandwidth is monthly space transfer, diskspace is the actual space on his account overall.)
