Hello everyone
« on: November 28, 2004, 03:45:09 AM »
This is just a basic introduction of myself, lets see I'm a programmer and game designer for what was formally known as Enix but I'm sure most of you know it's now Square-Enix. I'm basically just a peon now moving my way up the ladder (I'm only 19). I've been playing video games and writing plots since I could grab onto a controller. I'm mostly into RPG's but I do have experience working with action games. I use Game Maker and RPGMaker 2000 & 2003 quite often. I'm sure most of you are asking yourselves why is a programmer using these programs. Well its simple, they are simple to use, fast, easy, and one of the best idea development grounds. I'm sure some of you more original developers have realized this. Well I currently am fiddling around with a zelda style game (abs) with quite a few rpg aspects(leveling, equipment, ect). Incase your wondering no, it is not a fan games based on zelda, the only thing zelda related is the abs and the tilesets (game is being made in Game Maker). Brief(EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA BRIEF) story line, world devastated by 78 strait years of war, society split between city dwellers, and wild men(people not living in the cities). War reaches a distant mountain range which was though uninhabitable, village in mountain destroyed by a battle, main hero only survivor. Goes on a quest to avenge his family and gets caught up in a faction trying to stop the war. Setting is more of a medieval, meaning swords and axes, bows and magic. Well glad to be with everyone and I hope you like my ideas.

Edit: I'm using the Zelda tileset because I'm too lazy to create my own right now. I'm a programmer not a graphic artest sorry. If you have a tileset that you believe would better suit my game feel free to recommend it (must be 32x32 sized tiles, for simplicity's sake)

Welcome! I figure someone like you that designed and programmed for Enix would be a master at RM2K/3. Right? :D  :D  :D

actually to a programmer rm2k/3 is not as friendly as Game Maker is due to everything being hardcoded. Game Maker though it uses its own language has basics that can be learned in any programming course. But in response yes I would say I'm quite good at rm2k/3 and getting better with every use.

Er... a game designer for Enix... I'm not convinced. It's like when some guy said he worked for Squaresoft.

I worked on Sword of Mana™ for the GBA when I was doing my Internship, so basicly I barely did anything but watch the people work and bring them coffee (Z). Then after graduating I started on Kingdom Hearts® Chain of Memories which was a blast. Currently I'm not working on anything because I've started school again :x going for my Masters in Business Management.
