The Charas heroes
« on: December 12, 2004, 11:50:00 AM »
I know that Charas is in desparate need of money. My parents would never let me donate money, so I'm doing this instead!!! This is just an idea, so tell me if It's against the rules or not possible or anything...

Basically, there are loads of people that have made requests but they would take too much time and effort to do normally. Like that 'make FF6 charas look older' one. So what if we make a team that will do really hard requests so long as the asker proves that they have given a substantial donation to charas? That way money goes to charas and the donators get something in return. Do you think It'll work? It's odd, but...

I would be happy to donate small amounts of money, but I would first ask the person that helps me if he wants it.  If he would like me to donate the money to charas instead, then I would be happy with that.  Perhaps donations could be announced on some forum, and admin could see that the donations are real.  That way you could get some credit for helping others get something done, and helping charas at the same time.  The money should be more like a tip, so if you are happy with someone elses work you could then make a small donation.  With freeware games like we are doing I think 5 to 20 bucks should be enough.

Anyone want to request? We do NewBs too, while others might reject them. It's important to keep Charas up.

I am willing to donate 10 dollars to charas if Moosetroop11 creates or gets somebody else to create a few non-obvious variations to a story of mine.  I already have the beginning of the story ready, and I would need some more ideas on how to end it.  Are you interested?

I'm currently working on it. Do you want it to be a rough storyline, or very detailed?

I dunno... It's a good idea to get people to donate. But do we want people to donate ecause they want something, or because they truly care what happens to chara?

I am happy with a rough storyline.  I can fill in the details myself once there is a solid backbone in the story.

CHAPTER 1: introduction

The player is having his 18th birthday soon, and his mother makes him do some simple things in preparation for the birthday party.  The player is confined to his home town. You can work these simple Things out, they will be easy things like ‘Go fetch the food from the Shop quickly or it will be sold out!’ and you have a time limit.

The parents reveal that thay are going to holiday after the birthday party.  Moreover, as the player is now an adult, they think he has the right to know some things about his past.
The birthday party is a success, and the player meets some of his
relatives.  The relatives ask the player to visit them later.

CHAPTER 2: solitary at last

At the beginning of chapter 2 the parents reveal that the player is
not really their son.  They only promised to take care of him until he turns 18.  The parents tell how they got him.  The player decides to investigate his past.

The parents leave the town in a ship, and the player is free to
explore the countryside.  However, the town is located on a small
island, and the player is still confined to the island.  Supply ships
have not visited the island for a while, and there is no way out.
Everybody starts to wonder what is happening on the mainland.

A passing ship is stranded on the island, because a sea monster
Attacked it. the captain asks the player for help getting parts to
repair the ship. The player gets the parts from various places
(For example a shop owner says he will give you a part if you kill
a Monster in a nearby cave that has been scaring people away
from the shop, etc.) Also somewhere along the way you get attacked by an evil guy for no reason. You escape. You get the parts, and the captain gives you a free ride to the mainland.

CHAPTER 3: travelling salesman

The foster parents gave the player some hints where to look for his real parents. They tell him he had an identical twin brother, he goes around the mainland asking people if they’ve seen someone like him, as if he finds his brother he will find his parents.
The player travels around the mainland (which is just a
large island) searching for more clues.  Perhaps looking for somebody who brought the baby to the his parents. Looking for the twin. The player does odd jobs for money and meets a new character. (It’s best if you decide who this character will be) Eventually the player is in a town when a shady character comes up. (I’ll just call him shady for the time being) Shady says something like “ Is that you Tom? I thought you were dead! Have you got the jewels?” You realize that shady has mistaken you for your twin brother and You pretend to be Tom, your twin. (I know Tom isn’t the most Imaginative of names, call him whatever you want). You drink with Shady in a pub and he asks you again about the jewels. From what he Says you realize that your brother was a pirate, and his last job was stealing some valuable jewels but his ship sank. Shady believes that you are the twin and you survived the sinking ship. However, eventually he realizes that you know nothing about the jewels and that you are
not Tom, and tries to kill you. Loads of pirates come at you and your friend and you have to fight your way out of the pub.

Using the revenue generated while travelling, the player purchaces a boat to search for pirates because he thinks that as Tom was a pirate, some pirates might know who his parents were. (The problem of ships not coming to his home will be solved in chapter 4.)

CHAPTER 4: pirates

The player can ship goods from town to town and explore small islands near the mainland with his boat.  There are some new towns that can be reached.  The player can generate revenue by shipping goods, and perhaps he can buy a ship too.
The player also learns of a sea monster which is blocking the old route to your home island. You defeat it, and boats can once again travel to and from the island. (This monster is the same one that attacked the ship that crashed on your  island, in chapter 2.)

The pirates are not interested in small boats so the player has to
make money or otherwise make himself heard to contact pirates. The player is attacked by a ship with evil pirates on. He realizes that they are the same people that attacked you in the pub. You and your friend defeat them. You free a prisoner of the ship and he joins your party. The good pirates sail up to you and thank you for defeating their enemies, the evil pirates. They take you to their Pirate town. The player joins the pirates.

CHAPTER 5: treasure hunting

Nobody in the ranks of pirates know anything about the player's past. Player sticks with the pirates and does some small things for them.

The player searches for treasures with the pirates.  There is an item in one of the treasure chests that the player remembers. It is a necklace that belonged to the player’s Mother.  Other items in the treasure chest reveal that the items are from a foreign ship.  Old sailor remembers something about the incident in which the pirates got hold of the treasure.  The player is given instructions how to sail to the foreign country.

CHAPTER 6:

The player sails to the foreign country.  On entry, there is a
thunderstorm and the player loses his ship.  The player explores
cities on the foreign land, and receives more information on his real parents and their past.

When he is stranded in the thunderstorm, he passes out and wakes up in a cave. In the cave is Tom, who looks much the same as the player only with longer messier hair, and more scars, and different clothing. Tom tells the player that after his shipwreck Tom had to hide out in the cave, as the person who destroyed Tom’s ship still wants him dead. Tom reveals that the player’s parents died trying to stop an evil creature from being unleashed by a power hungry evil guy. The parents were very powerful, but not powerful enough. The player and Tom were split up and adopted. Tom thinks that the evil guy is now dead. However, he describes the evil guy to you, and you realize that this is the evil guy that attacked you for no reason when you were trying to get the ship parts! He must still be alive, but for some reason he wants the player and Tom out of the way. You don’t know why yet. Tom joins your party, and you go searching for the evil
guy. You ask a man in a town who says that a man of that description owns a big castle near the town. Your party disguises themselves as servants, they get the disguises from a person who they have to do a job for to get them. Perhaps you could do a Wall market thing where you have to get certain items of clothing by doing certain things. You go to the castle and get hired as servants.

CHAPTER 7:

The player is working as a servant in a large castle and cannot leave the premises.  You find out that your parents were great mages and that, even though they are now dead, you and Tom retain their power and while you alive the beast cannot be released. Your party wants to home, they say that since the bad guy cannot release the creature with you alive, you and Tom must escape. But you know better. You know that you must stop the creature from ever being released. You say that the others can go, but they choose to go with you. (Heh heh heh, everyone loves the ‘we’ll stick together’ thing, It’s in every game) So you go to the main bad guy’s room, and you fight. Just before the main bad guy dies, he reveals that he has Found a way to free the creature without killing the heros- the jewels That shady was talking about! They have enough magical potency To override your parent’s magic. The creature is unleashed and the
Main bad guy dies. Then you fight the creature. The main story ends. The credits appear. My name is in ‘em, under ‘storyline’. Tronkko and Moosetroop11.

CHAPTER 8:

The player is free to sail around the world and collect money.  There
are some mini-games that the player can complete, if not done that
earlier.

The foster parents are back at home.

Well, hope you find this useful.
