Dealer
« on: January 14, 2005, 01:01:44 AM »
I know I know.  I jump from game to game to much.  But, keep in mind, these projects on hold will be completed eventually, unless I completly give up on them.  Anyhoo, the main point.

 [GLOW]~~~DEALER~~~[/GLOW]

This is my newest project, and hopefully one I'll actually stick with.  Anyway, I'm still working out the plot holes, but this is what I have so far.

Ok, similar to my "Project Shade", but tweaked a little bit.  Here's the story.

Name:  Dealer
Status: Main Character
Talent: Manipulate basic playing cards.
Occupation: Government Spy
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Bio: All his life, he's been going through trainings, training his special talent.  In addition, He goes through missions against the (Name in Progress), a group of Crime Lords (History introduced in game).  He doesn't really remember his life before this.  More unfolds in the story.

Other characters updated later.

Setting: Modern time, with Modern Technology, but surrounding area is set in a relatively "mid-modern" theme.

Anyway, as his bio says, he's been doing government work all his life.  The officials here, have been telling him that he was abandoned on the street, and they picked him up, and that it was blind luck that he had this great potential to do good with his talent.  After one of his missions (introduced later), he begins to question this, but still continues to do his job.  Now (I seem to like this theme for some reason, but seeing as how I haven't ever completed a game with that theme.....or..a game in general), he is on a quest to discover his "true" past.  This is where you come in.

I do realize, again, like many of my other games, the plot is a bit vague, but, I, again, put all this in my head and not in actual game form yet, so I'm kind of making it as I go along.  Anyway, questions, comments, resource/tutorial help, e-mail me on my site (which I should be getting very soon, I'll post the address when I get it.)

Hmm... Interesting. I would like to hear more about this.

When you say 'manipulate playing cards', are you referring to telekinesis, or a specific ability with cards?

The whole idea seems nice overall. Like posted above, he 'manipulate' cards? It is like in Ogre Battle on Super Nintendo? Or more like in Card Captor Sakura? Or am I totally wrong lol?

Anyway it would be interresting to get the overall idea of the story and more details about your 'card' idea too.

To answer your questions....best answer is a lil from a, lil from b.
It Is sort of telekenitic power, but also a little from the anime movie "read or die" (comes on adult swim.  if you watch every saturday for about 2 months, youve seen it a few times).  Anyway, what he can do is, if i can get a decent tutorial, if not plan b, he can get...say....a poker deck, and can turn the cards into weapons.  for instance, they could become bladed and steel.  what he does is he can flick these cards at enemies, and have certain ones return (ones that invoke explosions obviosly dont return).  When/if I can get a wroking demo, it will explain much better than this description.  I hope that answers your question.

As I have stated, I whiped this up in my head, decided whether it was worthwhile, then posted it.  Im still working on plot holes and such.

lol, this reminds me Gambit from X-men, its good to see a project where the hero dont use a sword (yes, mine use a sword too, but maybe I change), the heros name is Dealer?

I would say continue on with the story because I think it could turn out pretty good if you do a lot more stuff with it.

It kinda reminds me of the Bourne Identity, except, Bourne get amnesia and he's trying to get his past when he was a contract killer.

similar, yes wildguy, but ill try to throw more twists in.

and his  codename is dealer.  he has another name....or does he?  yet another reason to ply the game  :P
he doesnt remember his full name, and he deals with cards, manipulating them and all, so people call him the dealer.

"theres a card in that bad guy's arm" someone might say.
"dealer must've been here" they say.
