Alchemy
« on: February 06, 2005, 09:28:22 PM »
I'm working on a new project with a friend of mine. We have called it 'Alchemy.' Not much of a storyline as of now, but it's being worked on. Currently, three Jr. High Students stumble upon a magazine and see Transmutation Circles. Then, one of them search the internet and books to find more information on the subject. From that point on, they begin practicing. As thier skills improve, so does thier plan. A plan to find the Philosopher's Stone. But, what will it take to get to it? Sacrafication? Destruction? Themselves?

It sounds too rushed and straight forward, I know it's just your rough draft, but you should try and work information in the middle of all of that. I'm not too found of the "Teen's finding out magic" kind of story-line, but it could turn out okay if you play your cards right. You will most likely need to use your ace though.

The goal of alchemests was to find the philosipher's stone. I've researched the topic myself.

Alchemy (al-kem-ee) n. the mideveal science of transmutating metal to gold

Transmutate (trans-mue-tate) v. to turn one object to another through magic and science

Medieval, sorry I had to.

And I think that it won't go too far because there will be a lack of battle system.

I'd personally change the storyline slightly because of battle reasons. The characters used in battle would pose a problem because by the sounds of things all three characters are going to be the same 'class'. This might make the game unbalanced.

That's only because Harry Potter stole their Sorcerer's Stone story from the actual legend of the Philosopher's Stone. So Harry Potter is the one that should sound Philosopher's Stoneish.

OMG! I can't believe it. -_-
You know this game is VERY cliché.
Have no one here seen an anime called Fullmetal Alchemist?
I highly doubt that this guy hasn't seen it it.
You can fool anyone but me. XD
Sorry, but this storyline isn't very original at all, its almost like making a game of Fullmetal Alchemist and don't tell me you never have seen it, Fortet...
If you ask me I'd say, make a new more original storyline.

Anyway, good luck with the game.

Actually, yes I have seen FullMetal Alchemist! Love it! But, that's not what I got the idea from. My friend actually did find a magazine with that stuff in it, and we thought it would make a good game. So we used the idea.
Now about the battle system. I have figured it out. As you know (if you've seen FullMetal Alchemist), that onne General dude with the gloves (WHAT'S HIS NAME??? GRRR!!!) snaps his fingers to make fire, right? Well, that what I'm kind of doing. Each character has his/her own element. Kavin has air, Josh has water, and Kim has fire. As long as you change your clothing (gloves), you will learn new alchemic abilities (but only if you are wearing the gloves; don't have a certain glove, you don't have a certain ability).
Now, the main opponent transmutates monsters to destroy us. He wants the stone for himself. So, that is what you will mainly fight in the game, other thn certain people.
The storyline is an attempt to stay as far away as FMA. It's set in modern time, in actual places in the world, and uses dollars! WOO!!! XD

Okay, Fortet.
If you say so.
But you should change the Philosopher's Stone stuff, that's kind of the same goal as Ed and Al has.

However, I do look forward to see some screenshots. ^_^

Damn you Robotam I wnated to be the first to point out how he completely copied Full Metal Alchemist but I've been having problems with the forum for some reason.Owell you win this time.

Anyway Fortet i bet have you only seen the ones on Adult Swim right?Same for you Robotam?

Anyway change the things about Transmutation circles and PHilosphers stone and it'll be better but still alot of people will think your copying Golden Sun like how each Person has there own Element.

I've never played Golden Sun. I didn't know this. But it's set.
And sorry. My stupid keyboard's PrtScr button actually prints crap.. -_- Sucks...
And, Al and Ed's reason for finding the Philosipher's Stone is to restore thier bodies back to normal, whereas I have not thought of wy they are looking for the stone, other than the fact that it's the main goal of the original alchemists.
